You are completely right. I mean this won't happen and if that ship was ever gonna sail it sailed in New York and don't think Phil would go there again. He tried to come back as President, tried to bring in Derek Fisher as coach.

    https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-phil-jackson-getting-fired-as-team-president
Sometimes people are immune to red flags and you can't tell them anything though.

For Phil's sake I wouldn't want this to happen just to see everything explode in the Clippers organization. Would love to see the negotiations though. Phil would ask for the moon. 100 million and the head on Jerry West on his desk.

My take. Phil is not a serious consideration (and never was) and Ty Lue gets five years because he is the most OVERRATED coach ever (thanks Lebron, just like Mike Brown got the gig with us because of LBJ (hated Brown more than ANY Laker coach ever - death starred for a reason - he is assistant coach as his ceiling).

Dream scenario. Allen Iverson and Ty Lue are shortlisted for the job. Iverson gets the job and immediately outlaws any practices as detrimental to player well-being, institutes cornrows and diamond necklace as mandatory uniform.

HEADLINE. Iverson steps over Lue for Clippers head coaching role.

I’d think Lue but who knows with Ballmer.

That's such a terrible take. Mannix shouldn't be employed as an "NBA analyst" with takes like that. First off, Phil is still close with Jeannie and helped in our coaching search. Him and Jerry West do not get along. Phil is physically broken down. He is 75 and with COVID out there, probably shouldn't be traveling (which they will be doing next season since they can't bubble the whole season). But one of the biggest reasons is Phil believes strongly in karma and he knows the Clippers have so much bad karma built up from decades of racist ownership that didn't try to put a competitive team on the floor as well as multiple teams that flopped like koi that jumped out of the pond onto the lawn. It would be impossible for him to ever get over the hump.

Lue looks like a safe choice...has familiarity with the players on board. If Ballmer wants a splashy hire, could be Jeff Van Gundy.

Paul George went from getting chants by Lakers fans at Staples, to being the jankiest slap in LA. He could have had a max contract, playing the 2, with Lebron and AD and winning championships for the next 5 years. What an idiot.
