The battle for Los Angeles would have been fantastic . . . if it took place in the city of the Angels. With it happening as it were in Orlando the meaning was completely taken away from it. So I was just fine with it being the battle vs. the Nuggets instead.

There’s a bit longer clip of that paragraph here. It sure does sound like the Clippers are in some trouble. Team doesn’t get along that well, and they don’t have the assets to really change much as far as trades.

Why are no sports shows talking about Kawhi and his load management? Even with all his resting he still was worn out in these playoffs. Does anyone think he will just be more rested and fresh next year, especially if he does less load management during the year.

The highest paid player on their list preaches for them to be calm after scoring zero in a fourth quarter.

After the Clippers SHOCKING elimination? Let me ask you guys and gals something, what is so shocking about a franchise that has existed a half century and has blown a** the entire time? Why? Because it had Kawhi Leonard on it? Kevin Durant doesnt blow out his Achilles, the Warriors beat the Raptors in 5. The 2019 Toronto Raptors were the luckiest team in the history of the NBA after the 2004 Detroit Pistons.

Clippers are the 2000-2002 Portland Trail Blazers. Owned by Microsoft money and stacked with talent that can't get their schlongs up when it really matters.

eh, i wouldn't say the '04 pistons were lucky. they were a historically good defensive team. they only gave up 100+ pts once the entire playoffs and had an 8 game streak during the regular season where they held their opponents under 80 pts. that's f*cking incredible

yeah, should be a HUGE story that he broke down as time went on, just like the previous season. i said all year (when people said no way we could beat them)--let's see what kawhi looks like after 3 playoff rounds. the answer was...not great.

and for all the press claiming we're screwed after lebron fully declines (which they say will be tomorrow), i was always like: um, what about the clippers? kawhi and lebron will probably be top-tier stars for the same amount of time going forward.

and we have AD to their PG. and we traded less for him.

i think malone's injury and the league deciding that they could play zone defense before it was legal would both qualify as lucky.

people forget we were having to trot slava medvedenko out against prime rasheed wallace for the bulk of that series.

Don’t forget how Chauncey got the Harden treatment while Kobe got the “rapists don’t get free throws” treatment.

The ‘04 Pistons team went back to the Finals in ‘05 (taking a prime Spurs team to 7 games) and then won 67 games in ‘06. They didn’t repeat, but they were a legit great team, and more than just “lucky.”

yeah, i always wonder how a healthy malone would've changed that series

maybe it would've extended the series to 6 or 7 games, but i still don't see them beating that pistons team. they would've been swept if it wasn't for a kobe buzzer beater in game 2

Malone was huge for us before that...helped to shut down Yao and i think had he been healthy would have done more than an adequate job on sheed and ben. when malone was healthy our team was close to unbeatable

"great" get's thrown around alot. So much so that a team wins 1 title off the back of an injury riddled team with rape cases and inner turmoil on the other side, that they are now GREAT.

You know who's great? Kobe Bryant. You know who's great? The Lakers Franchise. You know who's not great? 1 year wonders. That's why they are one year wonders. That isn't great.

they were an all time great DEFENSIVE team. are they one of the all time great teams? not close. but you don't win titles with just luck

not to mention they made it back to the finals the next season and came within a game of repeating, which is not an easy thing to do. so they weren't a one year wonder either
