He did very well today when we needed someone to create their own shot. Honestly, he did much better than I expected. If he can bring this effort consistently, I really feel good about our chances this year.
His size (little short for an ideal 2 guards) and skillset (getting to the rim) makes his ideal position as a PG. But he's always been interested more in being a shooting guard - if the Lakers can convince to limit his game to do what he does best then that will fill a big need with Rondo out. It will be even a bigger reclamation project then Dwight if it succeeds
Waiters, Kuzma, Caruso, Morris & Howard + any PG is a pretty formidable Bench. Looking like Waiters might be a legit scoring threat with our 2nd unit...
Defense was a little suspect, especially with lapsed communication, but this was his first game in a long time and with a completely new team so I'm not worried. His offense? You wouldn't know he had any time off? It's obvious he's just a natural scorer. We really needed someone with his skill set on this team.
Spellcheck on Gametime yesterday gave me a really hard time ... 3 times to say Dion's got some of TNT''s (or vice versa) "herky jerky" ball handling going on. It had a real problem with herky and made me keep posting "jerky jerky".
OK, this guy officially fits very well with this Laker team. Also, for some strange reason, he doesn't look like he's capable of moving that fast or jumping like that... but he somehow does it anyway. Looks can be deceptive I guess. He can't pass like Rondo, but still fits better due to his scoring; he's a more dynamic player. I mean, he's some 6-7 years younger... and it shows.
Nice Threes at the end of the ORL Game. We needed another shot creator off the Bench. Looking Promising
I think it's because he has zero definition on his physique and yeah ..... then just surprises you. Scoreboard .... roller skating in long hallway at home with headphones. :Kuzmawhoknew:
AND so far at least he doesn't have Rondo's "blinders on only pass to certain players and freeze other guys out" negative effect on the offense. Too often. I expect anyway our offense to look really like it's humming consistently in our near future. In spite of having blown it not locking up Lue for 5 years when we could have.
He's got no chemistry with Lebron but that's ok: if he can keep his head on straight which is a big if, he really fits in well as weirdly enough as Lebron's backup. Not that he plays the same position but the role Lebron plays on offense is not something the Lakers had a replacement for. Again ideal situation is something like Mad Max Vernon Maxwell for Houston
I think it's pretty obvious we were missing this type of player. Hopefully he will get it together this year and stick around for a year or two? Another good game today, he really knows how to find opportunities to score the ball.
Going to be interesting to see what happens with Rondo when he is healthy. If Dion can play anywhere close to this consistently with Smith there should be no need for Rondo minutes.
I admit it’s nice to not see Rondo pounding the rock for 10-12 seconds per possession. Kuz seems to play well with Dion too.
