The fact that Boogie still was sitting at the Memphis game is a very good sign. Anything can happen, but that tells us most likely what we need to know.
Their actually talking about me getting some time at the 4. They think I can cause AD some problems on defense.
Well, it's better for him this way and it was a sound move by the Lakers logistically... I'm glad he will still be around the team.
...they do have something like 20 roster spots open. I would think that Davis and Rondo will be in touch with him.
i saw something on Instagram about it but I’m fully aware that much of that is unsubstantiated speculation. However, you never know. The Lakers want him I’m sure...
Great news. A lot can happen between now and then, but I think how we handled his situations + having AD, Rondo, and Bron puts us in primary position to bring him back.
^...mighty gracious of Cousins to give us a thought about it. I'd reckon he understands that the team needs help and the core spoke to him about it. Cousins' current physical state would probably give teams pause to sign him unless it is just to spite us.
Perfect move by the Lakers to waive Cousins but still keep him around the team while he rehabs - we built that relatoinship perfectly by sticking by him when the DV case came up against him and his injury stuff too. We bought Cousins loyalty - and now he's going to likely sign with us for cheap this next summer. He ain't gonna bail for the Clippers either - I love it. He's already helping us.
glad to hear the relationship is intact and communication was ongoing and inclusive. my concern was that i felt like we had a path to his early bird, then bird rights in the event that he got past his injuries and was say, 75% of his former self. i think when you waive someone, that clock starts over. may not matter, though.
Doesn't sound like that'll matter for him - he seems appreciative to us and committed to being with us next year no matter what the $ is. He makes McGee expendable if he returns to even 80% of his form...and hey, you can never have too many bigs right? If that helps us re-sign AD, i'm all for it.
This is so great to hear. We're classy, as usual. We're going to do the right thing - we signed him when most people were unsure of his health status and did not want to take a risk - and we'll sign him again. I am confident he will recover fully if he continues to work with our staff. Now, what "fully" means is another story, but if he is 75-80% of his old self, he'd be amazing on this team, with Dwight backing him up. And if we don't re-sign Dwight, I'll riot, lol.
AD+Javale starting. Cousins+Dwight coming off the bench. AD+Cousins or AD+Dwight depending on what we need to close the games. AD shouldn't have to play 35+ minutes per game if we re-sign Cousins/Dwight. All we would then need are 3/D wings and another guard who can create/score.
