Yeah this is some footage before he was injured. He's obviously not as quick today but you can see he's not really elevating even at full health With Boogie it's all about the standing reach and wingspan
He spoke it into existence in that interview with Matt and Captain Jack. Also, Clipps bound in 3...2...1...
i hope so. don't see how waiving him over daniels makes much sense given that both wouldn't play during the playoffs and after all the great things he had said about the team too
I really hope this doesn’t come back to bite us. I don’t think he should play this year but was really hoping to keep him to earn some goodwill. Hopefully he stays and continues to rehab with our staff and will come back next year. I’m sure Rob had a discussion with him.
I really can’t imagine they did this without a conversation and understanding. Boogie and AD are tight, so I don’t think they would risk ticking him off over Troy Daniels.
I don’t have an issue with it, he was not coming back, and he shouldn’t come back, he needs to take the entire offseason to slowly get right. I like the idea of cutting a player that cannot physically play over one that can and can still give you valuable minutes if called upon. If we cut Daniels and KCP gets injured for instance, then we screwed ourselves. Need able bodied, especially for that ridiculous back to back to back in April.
yeah i hope this was the arrangement as well i assume rob talked this over with lebron and AD first as well
I hate to cut Cousins just because I want the possibility of him returning next year . . . but I agree with Weezy, it's better to have an able bodied player in Daniels who fills a specific role for the playoffs. Hopefully we have enough goodwill built up with Boogie to sign him again.
I really agree with you guys @Weezy @Cookie @wallangong You know they discussed it with him, with AD... he can't come back this season, it literally makes no sense. He needs to come back strong and in shape, and show everyone what he can do. Everyone else that's on the bench can actually play if someone goes down. We need to try to win NOW; now, quite a few teams are great now, it's not a tragedy if we don't win it all, but it's a must that we try. And who did we need in order to get there? A strong, physical wing who can shoot some 3 and defend, rough people up, right? Because KCP+Green are good, but they are too skinny to defend big wings. So, what did we do? Swapped one dude who can't play at all and would have to risk his career to come back, for a wing guy who weighs at least 245lbs and is known as a tough no-nonsense dude who can hit the 3. It's a no-brainer. We gave up nothing, and no future assets either. Now we need a secondary playmaker. Somehow. If we had him, we'd be absolute favorites to win it all.
Rob is professional. He wouldn't do Cousins dirty like that. Likeliest scenario is that Cousins progression wouldn't have him making the playoffs and the team wanted him to spend his team healing. We MUST sign him next season. I love his presence on our bench!
Aren’t both Morris twins signed with Klutch? Lakers must have gotten the heads up this was about to happen.
IDK about Markieff but Marcus switched agents because he didn't like how his free agency was handled. My guess is him and Rich had a disagreement about Spurs vs Knicks.
I’m hoping it was a clean, professional break. He spoke so glowingly of the Lakers team and organization in that “All The Smoke” interview. I really want him to continue to be a part of the Lakers family.
"Yahoo Sources: DeMarcus Cousins was informed yesterday by the Lakers that he would be waived. He plans to continue rehabbing ACL injury into the offseason." The last sentence pretty much indicates, IMO, that it was a mutual agreement. Cousins spoke in the "All The Smoke" interview that he shouldn't have rushed himself onto the court multiple times. I am guessing he understands that he wouldn't and shouldn't be playing this season and that the Lakers just really needed that spot for another player.
This was best for the team and Cousins: no need to rush him back this year regardless. The risk of injury is increased and the chance of messing up the chemistry was high. Dwight' emergence made this is an easy call
