I think Any player who is passionate about winning and wants to be judged based on their results and hard work, crappy officiating is maddening and unacceptable, but even more so when they do not take ownership of their mistakes.
I missed whether or not this was reviewed with a formal challenge. If it was and they didn't reverse and call a goal tend, especially with the backboard camera clearly showing the bounce first off of it ....... then the whole crew should be fired for being corrupt or too stubborn or not wanting the game to extend so they could get out of there. No excuse.
yeah I don't understand it. Either they did NOT review it or did and F'ed them anyhow. Either way, it is not acceptable. Refs should be fined ALOT!!
Oh, just checked the spoilered: "How Dame really feels about it" button 3 posts up, and it says because they did NOT call a goal tend you can't revue it. That's lame, at the end of the game, just because they called nothing, there is no challenge that can be issued. And they owned up from the league that yeah it was a goal tend.
makes sense in that if the play goes on, how do you figure out how to reset things? what it does mean is that officials should be whistle-happy on goaltends at the end of the game. but the cost there is choppy play at the end of the game. there's not a great solution. i agree with mark cuban: let's just publish stats on officiating like we do for playing the game. i think officials will make mistakes. it's hard to officiate these games; i had trouble when i was young and officiating 3rd graders. i can't imagine keeping up with the speed of the game and all that goes on simultaneously. but if everyone can see how well you've done, the focus will be on getting each play right as opposed to politics and such. and to conclude: f*** james harden. thank you.
I think that’s a Pandora’s box to open because you can literally call fouls on every single play off the ball, so it becomes very subjective when you will and will not call certain fouls. so you can only publish that on the accuracy of the calls that they did make, but probably not on the ones they missed. So then what’s the point?
Agree with this, I think it’s easy to get on the refs, but if any pros or even fans tried to referee a game at the highest level it would be even worse. That’s not to say that it’s not frustrating or that it couldn’t be improved upon, but I think it’s an easy thing sometimes to just say “refs are garbage”.
The correct call would have been to call the block, knowing that if it was the wrong call, it could then be reviewed and reversed. The way they did it was unreviewable and wrong.

While he didn’t explicitly called the officials out, saying there was “some home-court cooking”, it was enough for him to get fined by the NBA. According to an official announcement by the NBA, the Clippers star was fined $35,000 for criticizing the referees. The release states that the “fine amount reflects his multiple prior violations of the rule prohibiting public criticism of the officiating.”
Yeah, those poor refs should never be put in a situation where a player has to be fined over them!!! I mean, not like Donaghy wasn't fake news right??
