I’m not happy to see anybody leave, but sometimes slight modifications of posting style are in order

harsh crowd, I didn’t let the stuff bother me if I didn’t agree. Just scroll past or put on ignore. It’s just the internet.

Thanks Ron for taking the time to say that and like some of my posts.

I'm not bothered at all... I've just realized that I've treated this place as a public message board when it really is more like a private club.

The mods were fair but it's a tight knit community set in its ways, and they really don't want to engage discussing certain topics which interest me.

I figured it's better for me to just read rather than aggravate them with my beliefs.

Good luck to you. I will still read and keep up with the information. Thanks.

I mainly just read these days, but FWIW I never had a problem with any of your posts.

“Private club.” Right. Well there’s Lakersground which is huge and certainly the possibility the notions you’re wanting to “discuss” might find traction if you let them know enough times you really are serious, SM, though I would not put MY money on it. Though a number don’t like the job Pelinka did and the weaknesses ( currently) with the roster. And I too honestly and visually with the little like thingys checked ...... liked many of your posts. But see how many over there you can find interested in “discussing” your pet topics. If not will they be broadbrushed as well as being a giant private club?

it's only because you have proactively brought up the same topic all over the board

It's actually kind of comical. You're all like, "B.I., I can't quit you."

And everyone else moved on. You're digging up bones.

They didn't like my posts either, although because of its size there were more people that were on my side.
I did get the satisfaction of seeing them admit after I left that I and the other pro Ingram crowd people were correct about him panning out... as many felt he would never be more than a "borderline" starter. So in that respect, you guys are better in the sense that you weren't so anti-Ingram but I wasn't here last season so maybe some said the same things at the time. Maybe you all were more positive about him... maybe some weren't. Wasn't there so I can't say.

So yeah there were a good number of people that disliked my posts... but there also was a good number that liked and supported them.
I didn't leave there because of the community but because of one moderator who told me similar things that some members here told me yesterday and that was my cue to stop posting.

I get that it's annoying for the majority of you have to listen to my frustration with the trade... but to me it's annoying to hear people continuously praise it and call it a no brainer. So I can relate to the grating part. The only way for my posts to make sense will be for the team to fall apart... but as a fan I don't want to root against the team just to be proven insightful. I'm hoping we negotiate the important part well, which is a smooth transition when LBJ begins his decline.
If that happens we'll be okay even with the overpay, which is essentially switching LBJ with another superstar before he gets too old.

The reason I used the private club analogy is because the majority of the board are old friends from 2014. Only a few have joined since.
Everyone is friendly and comfortable with each other and I can see how having a loudmouth come in with his pent up frustrations over the trade would be unpleasant. If it's a large public club, it's not so disruptive because you can simply chat with those sympathetic to your cause.. but since it's a more intimate group it felt more like crashing and taking a dump on someone's party. Again, my intent wasn't to troll, but to find like minded people who could relate to my sentiments.

Since my comments weren't welcome... and yes, I get the part that many of you had no problem with them originally and only were upset that I kept saying them... I did some introspection and came up with the private club theory, then decided I should just read and not post.

Because people will keep saying how great the trade is... and I won't be able to stop giving my counterpoint.

SM, Why not simply refrain from doing it here as it can’ t change the past. Relax and enjoy the ride wherever health, the main factor that could hold us back takes us. Same as last year. But also post wherever NO fans post. They have to be enjoying Ingram, Hart and Ball while needing understanding to deal with Lavar the A-hole. And now Zion is ready to rock and roll with them. Going to be a blast to watch. Best of both worlds and two incredibly fun teams to root for. No fandom law against that?

Maybe but when all is said and done I'm a Lakers fan. I was born in the heart of Los Angeles, I grew up going to see games at the Forum.
I have enjoyed watching the Pelicans but I'm bitter they have our assets.
I suffered through seven seasons for us to acquire those pieces and all but Kuzma and Caruso are gone.

I was happy when we acquired LBJ... I had no complaints until the Godfather trade offer.
I had never complained about a trade before then. This is why in my mind, I don't feel like I'm being unreasonable because I've gone through this so many times before. Of course we never had such a terrible period of suffering as the last six or seven years so my investment was less in the young players.

Thanks for reaching out... I will consider that solution... but for now I will try to be quiet if nothing but to give the board a rest.

I actually had found some peace but our success during his injury made the old feelings surface again.

The problem people have is here we have AD who is playing so well and dominating but you keep regurgitating that we gave up too much. Brandon Ingram, Lonzo, and Hart are no Magic Johnson. They would be lucky to amass half the achievements AD will have accomplished by his career ends. Did you expect to get AD for free? Do you really think LeBron and Ingram would have been able to co-exist? Because Brandon Ingram's stats are due to an increased role and he has been on record of stating that he was unhappy playing for the Lakers. There is no scenario here where any competent individual wouldn't have made that trade. You have LeBron still able to generate 1-3 elite seasons so you want to maximize that potential. Ingram, Lonzo, and Hart are all very decent players but they needed to be in a team where they can grow rather than be placed immediately in title contention. AD took a paycut to join the Lakers, he is a top three DPOY candidate with Gobert and Giannis also in the conversation, and right now, he is the best frontcourt player in the NBA. There is no discussion to be had at this point and continuously bringing up a dead topic is what irks people the wrong way when the majority here are ecstatic that we have AD.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but man that AD trade was objectively great!

We were. We loved him and his mindset and dedication and certainly the short and extended flashes of his future he showed those who were fans. He got ragged for too much dribbling, iso ball, not shooting consistently .... and then hell yeah loved his run before the blood clot issue. Many, me included always worried if slender man with his frame could take the abuse. And he and Kuzma's offensive potential and repertoire got compared a lot. To this day that is still a worthy and no lose topic because I think you have to be thrilled with either's potential of scoring if they are hitting their shots.

out of all of our former players, I give him the highest probability of having the best career

    • BI
    • DLO
    • Julius
    • Zo

I love that he's focused on BBall and not everything else. I think he'll get the most out of his ability, and I respect that. I hated to give him up, but I understood for AD.

So I'm left with checking box scores and rooting for his success wherever he ends up, and he's definitely one of those guys I'd love for him to find his way home. My favorite out of all of our entire crop of youngins in the last several years.
