Thanks. I'm BIG on young players that show flashes of greatness. Lets you see what they are capable of nowhere close to their prime years. Key of course is getting consistent and reducing the by far more instances of play that do not look like highlights and aren't good enough to warrant minutes with the Varsity.
yeah, i think the key to talent evaluation in the nba (maybe anywhere?) is looking for things that can't be taught or are difficult to teach. that's why certain physical attributes have always made the list. but things like hoop iq/basketball instincts or physical balance are harder to account for objectively and may matter just as much. dwyane wade was a very good athlete, but it was his ability to keep himself balanced even with hits that made him different from a lot of other players. it ended up outweighing some serious deficiencies (height for position, shooting ability, court vision). THT's got some interesting physical tools and really good body control. as lavar mentioned, it's up to phil handy to try and polish those things and fit them into an nba scheme.
Lavar Ball said that? Oh you mean his absentee father probably ..... @LaVarBallsDad ? Or was it the opposite? He stayed home and had too much influence on his formative years that shaped him into what forever he will be?
His highlights make it seem as if he would be ROTY if he played in the NBA but I checked his G-League page and his production isn't impressive. https://gleague.nba.com/player/talen-horton-tucker/ There's a reason he's still in the G-League. He's got potential (IMO, he's a lot like Iguodala. Solid overall player and a good defender.) I just see way too many Lakers fans on other platforms saying he should be playing with the Lakers when in reality, he's far from being ready.
As much as I like his potential, please don't. He has a lot of time to learn, meanwhile we are among the few true contenders this year. Even if the stars on this team are getting rest, I want the remaining LAKERS on the floor, not our projects. His time will come, now is the time for the real team to squeeze as much as possible fromt he players that are on it.
