Not sure about the mental makeup. You have to consider he is still a very young pllayer and is still developing his game. We have seen flashes of this level of play as a Laker too, he just wasn't consistent enough (injuries being a factor here as well). He always seemed to me to have confidence and not shy away from "the moment", which are 2 of the main reasons (next to his work ethic and focus on BB) why I have always liked him.

There is no doubt in my mind he would have balled out in LA as well. That being said, the AD trade was a no-brainer, BI will never ever reach that level. It would be great if some day he found his way back to the Lakers, but not conting on that...

^yes he is developing his game. But its not like this was a very intense off-season for him.

He literally didn't do anything this off-season and then comes out and plays like a different player.

He went from shooting 1 three a game to shooting like 6 threes a game. He is "freed up". Whatever the reason is. Maybe Luke didn't know how to utilize him, maybe BI didn't mesh with some teammates...I don't know what the reason is, but I doubt he would be producing those numbers here.

There is clearly something that didn't work for him here and works for him there. Its not easy to say what it is. But to me....shooting 20+% more FTs is an indication of it being mental rather than physical or tactical.

Was there any way for us to get AD and keep BI?

What does that even mean? Are we talking "Per" or some other random flavor of the decade stat?

No, his potential is why a deal was even able to be made. Unfortunately his blood clot issue probably hurt his value enough for us to have to include all those pics and pick swaps, we’re probably fortunate they didn’t demand Kuz instead of Hart too. But anything outside of BI, Zo, Hart and the picks was not part of the deal, all other trades were to try and land Kawhi or another 3rd star.

i wonder how much the clot issue played into it. NO turned down a bigger offer with him as the centerpiece prior to the clot issue, right? i think folks around the league just didn't think he was that great. a fact that people here--including me (check the receipts)--thought was unfair. to me, was as valuable as tatum. it just was going to take a player of that value, plus a bunch of picks and other lesser prospects to make a deal for a perennial mvp candidate in his prime. as it should.

SM had to have been getting armed with high power weaponry for an assault on Lakers HQ when Magic was trying to trade the whole team and wrecking it at the deadline last year. I know I was beyond furious with my rants here at the time.

Also for NO to agree on the trade, there has to be something in it for them. Most front offices are too savvy for us to just fleece them. Then on top of that there's the Laker tax.

Well the blood clot was sure played up by the media, talking about how much it hurt his value, I can only guess that NO had a hand in feeding that narrative.

I would never advocate violence on the internet... but when we were contemplating taking Solomon Hill back along with the Godfather offer...
Yes, to say I was livid would be an understatement.

Another "fringe" all star performance from BI. Unfortunately I couldn't watch either game because I was out of town for a few days.

Another 11 assist double double for Zo.

What have they won, 8 out of 11? Don't want to jinx them because they always seem to get injured once they get a good run going

Our youngsters can't win? No Zion... no Jrue... no problem

We can't win with the youngsters and LBJ only? Kuz and Caruso seemed to do just fine without AD against a quality team.

    Very interesting results recently.

    Should've kept him...
Both Bron and AD were mistakes and now we're screwed.

That still of the motion clip above shows BI looking like he, in addition to his crazy length, has adopted as did Kobe the falling back angle to his Js on at least some of them. Along with great elevation. Going to be a special player!

Im very happy for Ingram - he was my favorite laker when he was here.

Glad we were all RIGHT about him. He's a star in the making.

I wonder if he'd be putting htese numbers up if Zion was playing tho - that's the only thing I can think of as a knock against him
