The point with Davis is that he isn't really injury prone with weak bones, tendos, muscles or what not.

But his body control (physical control) is weird and he jumps in awkward ways and his legs are usually in awkward positions...there is just a higher risk of him getting hurt when you go up and land in weird ways without having that stability. He is more athletic than his body and movements indicate.

I think the Lakers training staff really need to work with him on core strength and optimize his vertical movements in terms of stability. Every time he falls (and he falls a lot) you have to hold your breath. He hits the floor quite often and hard on both ends of the court.

Lol Howard Beck is your respected pundit who thought we gave up too much? And one of the sources he referenced saying we gave up too much is notorious Lakers hater Bill Simmons.

The whole premise of the article is that we wouldn’t be able to put a contender together. So if the whole idea is we gave up too much and won’t be a contender, but jump out the gates as the top seed in the West and are 30-7, I’d say he’s an looking for clicks.

the beck piece was obviously (and hilariously) sour grapes. as wallangong mentioned, basically up until the moment the trade went down, the media was nearly unanimous that we had no business even being in the conversation--that all of our assets combined plus a zillion picks wasn't enough for davis. seriously, people kept saying the knicks' potential package (#3, mitchell robinson, kevin knox) and a non-tatum C Bags offer beat anything we could put on the table. then literally the second we made the trade: how could you give up all that?! it was absolutely hilarious watching grown men and women just completely melt down over it.

also note in that article that he was responding to the fact that the lakers became betting favorites the second the trade happened. yes, sports books respond in part to action (lakers fans betting on the lakers), but that's not enough to move them from "not in this lifetime" to "probably next year" in terms of title odds.

also note that these are RIVAL executives--some of whom CLEARLY hate either pelinka, klutch, or both. note that one of the direct quotes contains "given the conditions". sounds like sniping at a manager who you feel has unfair advantages over you (could totally see his source being pritchard, btw).

as has been stated a million times, "the conditions" were that the pelicans had a 26 year old perennial mvp candidate and basically nobody else did. they were dealing from a position of strength, not weakness. we weren't going to negotiate lower than we gave. if we played hardball, we risked them pulling a pritchard and sending him out for a lesser package to a wasteland, or pulling a buford and sending him out for a head-scratchingly different kind of package to another supposed wasteland. we risked being paul george-d or kawhi leonard-ed again. we risked lebron asking out and the brand (which is really most of what we've got, tbh) irrevocably damaged.

there's a reason everyone was so sour after the trade, and it wasn't because they felt bad for us due to how we got screwed.

btw, i love how beck compares the package to that for leonard (who hadn't played in a year and netted an allstar, btw), irving (who's basically been making teams worse for most of his career), and george (LOL for several reasons). he also mentions butler (see irving) and dwight howard (*straight face*). it's a biased hit piece fueled by the massive amounts of butthurt at trade time. it even trotted out the "lakers don't know how to manage the cap/AD's trade kicker" trope, which was an insultingly stupid take that slinked away rather quickly in the aftermath.

Man, that injury could have been worse.

He was very lucky; I hope he takes his time coming back.

How do we now it's not that bad? Negative x-rays mean jack squat.

even if it's just a bruise, those can be painful, and he'll probably want to keep off it for weeks, not days, right?

i think we'll just have to try keep afloat for a while.

i'd definitely sit him for the road trip and home games vs cle/orl. after that, you have road games against houston and boston. i know we won't do this--because we didn't in the milwaukee and clippers games--but we should just rest guys for those. those are likely losses anyway, may as well heal and rest.

Typically, his injury will take 2 weeks to recover from...

I thought it was odd he went flying off balance as bad as he did. For a guy who always seems to be nicked up or falling down, that kind of fall is concerning. Hope he’s not out long.

Clear or not, that's stupid. AD and his "team" seem hell bent on playing no matter what. First it was the shoulder, now this.

So, he is literally suffering from the same injury as some posters here, who lament whether we gave up too much -- he's butthurt.

Davis plans to travel with the Lakers during the team's upcoming two-game road trip that begins Friday in Dallas after the MRI he underwent Wednesday returned clean, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The fact that the MRI cleared him of any major injury is the more significant development. While Davis initially looked to be in danger of sitting both Friday in Dallas and Saturday in Oklahoma City, he'll now have a legitimate chance at playing in either or both of those contests.
