Ehh, he went from being horrible to better than horrible. Kyle Kuzma should be a match-up nightmare when we play a smaller lineup. Kuzma, AD, Bron, Bradley, and Green was our ideal finishing lineup before the season started. Kyle Kuzma has not taken advantage of smaller defenders on him, either. He should be posting up against them. Sadly, he's afraid of contact which explains why he doesn't attack the rim. I was most excited about Kuzma's growth in the offseason but it hasn't happened. I guess I and many others bought into Kuzma hyping himself up.
Scoring off the bench is something we desperately need and Kuz scored twice as much as anyone else on said bench. On a night where KCP went 1 for 7 and Howard, Rondo and Daniels scored a collective 7 points total, we needed Kuz's 10 pretty badly. He had a couple of nice defensive sequences as well tonight.
There's a difference, though. He didn't play well - he just played better than the others. You and I both expected better from Kuzma heading into this season. 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist on poor defense is not what we need from him.
Reactions in this thread on twitter seem to think the exact opposite. Looks more like he disses him and refuses the embrace, but freely offers it to others. Probably the comment he made preseason about not everyone was built for LA lol
Yeah it sure looks like that. Lonzo declines the bro hug, shakes his head “no” and says something to him and catches Kuz unaware with it.
I’ve missed a few more games than usual this year, but from what I’ve seen, the notion that Kuz is horrible on defense is based on the past 2 years and not at all reflective of this season. He’ll never be a defensive stalwart, but I see him giving max effort and holding his own every night on that end.
Zo is likely just jealous. Magic damn near had him in the rafters a couple years ago, now he’s a mediocre point guard for the Pelicans. Having easy access to great gumbo can’t even soothe that.
What I like about Kuz is that he is pretty much the only guy on our team not named Lebron and AD who can get his own shot on a regular basis. That's valuable. Everyone else is so dependent when it comes to offense.
Yep. I think he's doing okay. I'm not moving him unless it's a package for a real piece. No Zubac for Muscala or Svi for Bullock. Not to mention there are certain 5 man groups he thrives with; most notably with Davis & LeBron. Let's see how he turns out...
Kuzma when not injured is doing what he needs to do. Also like how he has started pump faking the 3 to attack the rim. WIth his size this shooting from the corner provides a lot of gravity Defense has been average as well which is a big plus as he was a negative before
he's improved his stroke, imo. he's improved his defense. his role has changed dramatically. people see BI thriving in a similar but expanded role and think kuz sucks, but i think he's just trying to find a way to fit in to a very different squad from the absolute trainwrecks that he played with in recent years. his skills are still there. i'm willing to be patient. i'm also willing to trade him if someone wants to give us a huge upgrade. but nothing lateral. or close to lateral. i'm even squeamish about a covington move, tbh.
