Only last year people loved to point out how BI had only scored 30 points twice in his entire high school and college career.
That he'd never average 20 points a game because he was a limited athlete.

I'm not saying he'll score 50 anytime soon... but when will people stop putting a cap on his talent?

Everyone universally agrees LBJ is having an MVP quality season based on his torrid start

Both Ingram and LBJ are averaging over 25 points and 7 rebounds... Ingram averaging significantly more if you take out the 7 point game where he left with an injury. Granted what's impressive is that LBJ is putting up those numbers while leading the league in assists, but did you see that curveball pass BI made the other night?

Again, LBJ is superior... but when will BI actually start to get some respect?

I wanted Ingram to be LBJ's heir apparent... and it looks like he might becoming worthy of filling those shoes at this point.

He gets a lot of respect here. @KB24 lives too far away to know what's going on.

I was always super high on Brandon. Expecting him to keep up this production is not reasonable, but at this point it seems safe to assume he'll have a great season - stats-wise for a guy his age and in general. I couldn't disagree more with those members who still diminish his accomplishments by pointing out the team's results. He'll eventually have a decent team around him and shut his critics up. So far the NOP team has disappointed, but there are numerous reasons for that. If BI and Zion can remain healthy long-term, they are two great pieces to build around. I will always miss him and would love to have him back as a Laker, but won't keep my hopes up on that one.

All that being said - AD was the right move, period. Expecting BI to reach his level is both unfair to him and setting oneself up for disappointment.

I liked everything you said until you said "period"

We won't know for years what the right move was, though if the world ended today it was the right move.

Like the story of the tortoise and the hare... in four years maybe not.

Is there a new trophy awarded for the quarter season that I'm unaware of?

If there is, yes we've won the first quarter, I'll give you that.

is there a new trophy for winning 46 games for 4 years? my point is that your metaphor sort of made no sense. unless your finish line is a title in which case...lol.

The hare in the tortoise analogy was perfectly clear.

We are the hare ahead by miles after a quarter season.

Will it stay this way... maybe... it's certainly looking good.

I just don't think it's definitive yet... and I don't know why most insist on calling it that way when it's clear many things can happen.

    yeah, we've been over this.

but the tortoise/hare thing still makes no sense. the point of that story is that you win by pacing yourself for the long haul. for it to make sense, you have to define a finish line. your game is shifting around nebulous finish lines so that we can monday morning quarterback everything. people know finish lines in advance.

had we kept the kids, how do we "win"? because you and i both know it wasn't going to be a title. so what's the line? increasing hope levels over a 5-year period?

Abeer the plan always was two elites with the kids.

Ingram would be fine as a third option... plus we'd have all those young assets and picks.

You can say we couldn't sign them... but I think we needed better management.

Let me put it this way, if young Jerry West were running the team we'd have two elites and kept the best of our kids.

I thought the plan was two elite FAs and an elite 3rd via trading the kids?

That was the last minute hail mary plan when we thought we could get Kawhi.

The long term plan which started when we got rid of DLo was clearing space for two elites.

I genuinely may be misremembering, but I thought 3 stars was the plan all along, with several options: PG/Lebron/Kawhi but SA wouldn’t trade with us and PG pussed out. Then We got Lebron, traded for AD and had space for Kawhi.

The plan is to win championships.
AD gives us a chance right now, within Lebron's career window.

Kawhi wasn’t a Hail Mary, we tried to trade for him but SA refused, we then made space for him and he went to the Clippers.
