This is one of the many reasons I don’t like Harden. Stop trying to game the system and just rely on skill.
NO!!! This is legal, totally due to clause 10,725 of the Harden bylaws that clearly states that if Harden does it, it's legal and scroo all the pancakes who can't handle that!!!!
in fairness, that move is one of the least egregious, and i might actually side with him on it not being a travel. that he got the league to redefine the gather for the stepback three is absolutely ridiculous, though. i remember going to basketball camps as a kid and being taught the jumpstop and how important it was that you land on both feet simultaneously and don't take any more steps. sometime between then and like, 4 years ago, somebody decided that the "gather" only occurs what, after you put two hands on it? it's still pretty unclear to me. in any case, once your second foot comes down to shoot that stepback three and that ball isn't being released simultaneously, that's a travel in my book. but the league disagrees, and now pretty much everyone shoots it--btw, the fact that pretty much everyone does it now is more damning than laudatory--it means that nobody thought it was legal until the league let harden do it. harden stans would have had you believe that nobody else could make that shot (uh...wrong). what if kobe could have taken that shot? instead, when kobe popularizes the swingthrough, they change the rules right away to work against it. anyway, my beef with harden is that he likes to cheat instead of play ball. i've never liked any player who's primary skill was "drawing fouls". it's terrible to watch. the move where he grabs the defender's arm and then flails is an absolute embarrassment to the game and himself. very annoying that he's a marquee player in the league right now, as it encourages and glorifies non-sporting play.
So Siakam is getting a max deal. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...incredible-story-with-max-contract-extension/ I guess his one good (not even great) season was enough to warrant this kind of money?
yeah...just not sure about that one at all. seems very ingram-ish to me, and i would want no part of ingram at the max.
I agree... the current CBA is terrible. Teams are forced to heavily overpay to keep their players because if they don't, somebody else will. This needs to end. We now have more and more mediocre players getting max dollars. I remember 10-15 years ago only a handful of players were given max contracts...rightfully so. Now it seems like every team has 1-3 max contracts on hand. This isn't sustainable, especially if guys like Siakam, Murray, Russell, Wiggins, Wall, Middleton, Tobias Harris, Al Horford, Porzingis etc...don't step up their game to match the contract they have. Even Buddy Hield, I read the other day, expects a max contract...lolz
the solution is no max contracts, but neither the players nor the owners would go for that, so here we are. the max creates a negotiating point that's not grounded in reality for most players, imo.
Shaq's mindset was to elbow Mutumbo in the mouth with his skinny body and call him or any of them out for being "soft".
Somewhere out there Andrew Wiggins is laughing at this contract. I’m kidding, it’s not that bad at all.
I am still laughing about Kobe's 48mil... It feels like when Pippen talked about the difference between 1996 and now, 23 years later... Then you realize that Kobe's contract (universally criticized) was 5 years ago. And now Buddy f***ing Hield is making more... God f***ing Dammit.
Closer to Embiid if anything (won't miss first 2 seasons though). They will monitor his minutes and sit his a** like the Sixers do with Joel. When he sheds some of that mass, he should be fine (will he be as dominant... remains to be seen). Also, no way in hell he's back in 6-8 weeks. Pels will sit him twice as long just to be sure (or for the whole season and they will go for another top pick... joke of a team - Sixers 2.0).
