Alright man, I've exhausted my piece and I got hope it all works out.

I'm not even searching for an "I told you so". Anything bad to the Lakers and I'm the first in line with grief, not some high horse speech of how I was right to worry.

The worst thing to do is to rest on your laurels. You constantly gotta get better and that includes the roster. I'm hoping for the best, but that's outta our control. What we can control is addressing our weaknesses/depth and I'm sorry to say, we got those so some addressing needs to be done imo.

Either way, I know we'll be good, but till we achieve it, I'm going to worry about us being great so that I can leave less to chance and hope.

waiver wire, trade deadline, doesn't matter. there weren't great options to spend on at c. we got the best one on the market for basically nothing.

if mcgee and howard both get hurt, we'll just have to cut someone and pick up another center to play the placeholder minutes. with two centers on the roster, AD shouldn't have to spend more than 10-15mpg there. and honestly, he shouldn't spend less than 10mpg there.

if howard doesn't work out, noah, faried, koufos, and others are all hoping for a job. hell, anderson varejao just kicked some international a** the other day. salah mejri is still unemployed. some of these guys were capable 15mpg nba centers within the past 18 months and haven't suffered debilitating injuries in the interim.

i mean, dwight has said the right thing many times. i hope this is the one time he actually does it.

if so, he's a huge asset. imagine what chandler did for us early last year, but across all 82.

again, though, if he's still ol' dwight, he's gone and replaced by someone else before december.

What? Torn butt muscle jokes are funny.

    :Dudleyshrug:

and I call no mercy on Dwight Howard this year. He'll get all of the attention he's hoping for and more. If he turns around fans' view of him, that will be fantastic for us. I think he's cut in pre-season.

Not inconceivable he could beat out McGee for the starting position at some point during the season if Vogel is true to his word to him and he stays healthy and playing like this team needs with the defense and rebounding. He's capable of more minutes on the floor.

^^^ That's my take for basketball optimism. I'm truly excited to see how he looks on THIS roster.

That said ..... NOOOOOO ...... Mugsy /(you?) didn't really say that to Tania on Twitter? !!!!

Maybe but McGee is proven and the only thing DH has proven is that he's a knucklehead. I'm not sure DH will ever fit better than McGee in a LBJ unit. McGee is quicker and longer. Vogel only said that he'd have an opurtunity to play for the starting spot. That can be said of any player for any position in which a major superstar doesn't have locked up and we've seen cases where even that didn't matter. Dwight could end up there just due to injury/health. Ideally we have little of those issues and we have a rotation of 18mins each on McGee/Howard and then depending on lineups we see AD fill those last 12 mins in the playoffs 4th quarters.

Refs to Dwight as they call travelling on his spin moves, "You think you're James Haren. We don't love you like that."

    Probably. :Fishwink:

Remember this guy is 12 months removed from this little intro speech to the Wiz, the beginning is left out as it just was his terrible attempt at comedy and how he became a "wizard":

"Last season was probably the most confident in my career as far as, you know, just doing everything on the floor, handling the ball, shooting, being more of an offense threat in iso situations and stuff like that but, I'm gonna continue to work on that stuff my whole focus is to do whatever this team is needing. I know how to set screens it's not something I need practice on, I've been doing it my whole life and I know by me setting screens and rolling or doing whatever is asked is gonna open up the paint for the threes for everybody else so whatever's needed I'm available and I'm willing to do it and that's the only thing we've been talking about is obviously coach wants me to keep growing as a player and continue to get better and continue to work on those things but to not forget the core of what's gonna this team work so I'm gonna continue to do that stuff."

Not one damn word in the whole press intro about defense or rebounding. So he may have changed but 12 months ago he had not.

Maybe we can get get Stan Van Gundy to join as an asst coach specifically to coach Dwight and make his experience here as pleasant as possible.

If Dwight comes back 70% but gives us the 110% he's promised then that's 77% and that's not bad.

I will be extremely disappointed if I see him in a Taco Tuesday vid before he posts 12/12/5blks .600FG%

Now when Dwight comes in the locker room with the box score in hand will it be to hand it to LBJ?

if you read between the lines there, it sounds like washington's FO was trying to placate him a bit at the time, saying "hey, keep working on your stepback three, but you know, pick and roll sometimes, please". i believe the message this time around from interested teams has been: "set screens, rebound, block shots, catch and dunk, or kick rocks".
