Kawhi Leonard Discussion: “I’m A Snake Clipper Guy.”

Nice idea but he still has to sign the contract. Best I understand is that it has to be signed by tomorrow or the Davis signing will cause problems with the $$. He not only needs to make his decision but needs to sign with us in time for Davis to ink his contract.

I have heard some people say it doesn't need to be signed but they have not convinced me of that yet.

 

Another thing is if Kawhi leaves Toronto he certainly doesn't want to make it look like it was an easy decision. He may be simi-thinking about it still but I think inside he's pretty much made his decision and doing a stall for a reason. I think Kawhi is the type of guy that cares about his rep. He may not owe the Toronto organization anything but those people and those fans rolled out the red carpet a whole hell of a lot more than the Spurs ever did for him. If he signed with LAL on day one of FA and TMZ shows him next day riding rollercoasters with Snoop Dog, Leo DiCaprio and Flea, he may not cement himself into Canadian folk lore nearly as much than if he takes a long time, tells everyone it was a heartbreaking decision to leave TOR and then he still eats free @ many restaurants throughout the greater Toronto area.

 

What happened to rd Ambition? He said today either an update or that he would sign today. Hes quiet again

 

On the espn ticker it said the Pelicans are willing to wait to execute the AD trade, which I guess allows the Lakers to stay in this delayed decision game that Kawhi is taking everyone through.

EDIT: Helljumper beat me to it. It’s interesting though because 2 hours ago Amin was just on espn saying the Pelicans wouldn’t accommodate the Lakers because it’s not their job to give the Lakers a favor. These professionals, I swear.

Well, technically he just said "tomorrow" and there is still time. He also did technically say it after 12:00AM so technically he could mean tomorrow the 6th. Not that any of it is true, just that technically he's not wrong yet.

Just occured to me, if/when Kawhi becomes a Laker, it’s going to be free recruiting for San Diego St Men’s Basketball everytime they announce him in the starting line up at Staples Center/on the Spectrum SportsNet Broadcast/on 710 ESPN, and everytime 710 or Spectrum brings up the fact he played at SDSU. People with connections to UCLA, and SC are going to get a constant reminder how their schools failed to recruit him.

Ahh true, you're right. When I saw it last it said 12:05 or something. That would have been Eastern. I mean, there's always the chance he could announce something after Dennis's birthday dinner tonight. Who knows.

Makes sense because he said it with such an attitudinal tone, from a hypothetical David Griffin perspective, that made it seem like a real nervy request for the Lakers to even ask.
