Magic has no doubt been tampering for weeks.

Him being in the meeting does go a long toward saying that internal issues have been squashed and the team is moving forward.

It’s also the role he should’ve always had.

Why? Jeanie definitely ain’t talking basketball. This will probably be all about business, money, endorsements and opportunity to grow Kawhi’s brand. Pelinka does not need to be there for that and that’s not a knock on him. He’s doing a phenomenal job this offseason.

Stephen A is saying Kawhi made a personal request to only meet with Jeanie and Magic.

Not sure how much I buy Stephen A. Feel like this could be him misinterpreting the same info Brad Turner got.

But if it’s true, I’m not sure what to make of it. Could be like Lebron’s one on one conversation with Magic where Kawhi just wants a simple talk to get a feel if this is what he wants? Or maybe he doesn’t want to come and so he wants to let down easily the two people he knows have more of a personal investment in this...

They're meeting on Sunday, so I assumed Rob would have been there with a Bible in hand.

Seriously tho, I think both dudes were probably in the wrong. Magic not being in the office as much and Rob chastising him for it. I'm sure there's more to it, but whatever it is, I hope they're men about it and shook hands and put it past them.

The way I see it, Rob is the cap guy fulfilling a vision...Magic is the guy that pitches that vision and tries to close on it...just now, it's under the unofficial capacity and without any rule restrictions.

But who really cares. Just make the Lakers legendary again. Everybody stay in their lane and get this s*** done please.

Ehhhh .... easy for you to say. Doubt Rob feels the way or even Jeanie. Let Magic do whatever he wants to help but outside that room. But yes that's where he should have been and without all the other crap and THEN gracefully backed away from the PBO title. Like classy exits everywhere. I want to spend more time with my fam .... errrr .... tweets.

HOWEVER. If this is true that I just read below this post. Whatever the hell Kawhi wants.

I think turning us down could be done with a simple phone call. Us getting a meeting tells me we have an actual shot at him.

I guarantee you Magic and Jeannie have still been talking regularly this whole time.

And if Kawhi wants that with only the two of them then give it to him.

I also have to assume LeBron and Davis have been talking to him about hoops for a while.

This is the role Magic was meant for (besides being the greatest point guard of all time). He was never well suited for the PBO role, but as a recruiter he is our best bet. All indications are that Uncle Dennis loves and respects Magic. I'd assume this meeting would be about how well the Lakers actually operate like a family, how they treat their players, how they intend to treat Kawhi.

I do hope LeBron, Vogel, Judy, and Rob get a say too.

Wait..... what? Are we now scheduled to meet Sunday before the Clippers meet with him? Hard to keep up with all the threads. That would be awesome.

Not buying too much into anything the Talking Heads have to say right now, especially considering their track record on the Lakers recently.
It is fun watching them all backtrack & squirm though. Their angst is palpable.

Maybe Kawhi wants to meet with Jeanie and Magic, so he can see for himself what kind of direction the front office
    is taking.

Last time "the" free agent wanted a no bells and whistles approach and just wanted to see folks in particular...well let's just say we came through in the Klutch.

This is 100% what I believe too vash. I don't necessarily pass Rob for being passive aggressive, but I also don't appreciate what Magic did and I definitely don't respect the way Magic went on tv afterwards.

In the end though, this is all family business. Magic still being around is a great sign and a good thing especially since Uncle Dennis is reportedly a big Showtime fan. I hope this isn't a courtesy meeting, but more of a "I have a good idea of what I want, I don't need too much of a presentation, but there's some stuff we should go over first to make sure everything is the way it seems to be."
