I would have preferred Lue AND Vogel, but obviously it didn't work out that way. Regardless, I'm good with Vogel. The health issues for Lue would have worried me especially with all the pressure on here in LA. It all worked out fine in the end. Vogel is a fine coach. Way better than Walton.
I do not like Lue and we dodged a huge bullet with him. This guy who was pissy about his contract didn't see the big picture and that's his issue right there. He focuses on the little things and disregards everything else. He had a chance to come to a team that at the time had Lebron, a young core and the #4 pick in the draft and his issue was a 3 year contract. Why in the world will we offer him a 5 year deal when this guy had no other offers and in his whole coaching career only won 1 game without Lebron. He had guys like Kyrie and Love and he only won 1 game without Lebron and he wants us to hold on to him if Lebron retires or leaves, we will be in the same position as the Cavs are right now. Not to mention he was screwing up with the Cavs by not playing their young guys and playing vets cause he was trying to win and he was still losing games. This is the guy some people want as our Head Coach? He wasn't the head coach when Mosgov had that great series, Blatt was and it was Mzgov's injury that killed the rest of his career. Mitch and Jimmy thought his injury wasn't that bad and he could recover well he never did and we all know what happened to Mitch and Jimmy. Lue is a good Lebron coach but i don't want him anywhere near our franchise after Lebron leaves. I mean c'mon 1 win in 3 seasons without Lebron. F him and his prideful self. He had a major opportunity with us and he gave it up cause of "years", here's a suggestion you want to prove to the FO you're a good coach take the 3 years and prove you're worth it. He may have got that extension. We will never know now.
Records of those 3 seasons? This doesn't seem to make sense. He was elevated to HC while Bron there and didn't he get fired last season LeBron's first gone? Agree with your other points though.
I'm not the guy that can really honor this discussion, but I'm pretty sure the X&O experts like bfc, Cranjis and Pete all had Ty Lue lapping Vogel, Kidd and Monty based off depth of playbook alone. Also Moz was on Cleveland's title team which had Lue step in and take over from Blatt that season and coaching them into the Finals. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2016.html Either way, what's done is done. I just want a good X&o offensive oriented asst coach in addition to Adams. On another note, I'm pretty sure why Miles Simon was tgeciy one to survive our coaching purge.
I just hope he doesn't run Lebron into the ground, Lebron conserves on the defensive end these days... clearly, and this is a very defense oriented coach. Just hate to see another Kobe event and premature career altering injury due to overwork/minutes/expectations on an athlete that's put in more minutes than the rest of the team x 2. But maybe I worry too much.
Lue was 1-18 when Lebron was out. He was 0-6 when he left the Cavs last season. In that 0-6 run he played vets instead their young guys while trying to win games even though they were rebuilding. Not a guy i want when Lebron retires.
And don't forget, needed Prozac from the stress of coaching in Cleveland. Cleveland. Lakers probably saved his life by not hiring him.
No matter what, it’s interesting to see that all the key people right now, on the staff....are all defensive heavy. That’s good, but I’m curious.
I hope so! Give me that Ron guy from GS too as well as some medical announcements on our training staff.
My buddy who worked for Klutch Sports confirmed to me this afternoon: Chris Matthews aka. LethalShooter will be joining the Lakers coaching staff.
