Hmm...so if we move Wagner, Bonga, and Jones and take back Okafor, that only technically leaves us with $54K if we just waive him after the trade?

The 54k would just be payment to him. The contract itself is still looked as 1.7m.

As of this moment there is no official AD trade and we have 32m in space.

You sign Kawhi to that number and then immediately pull off the AD trade. The near 23m we send out in Zo, Bi, Hart, Moe, Bonga, JJ, unsigned 4th can bring in up to about 29m in salary. AD + Ja = 28.8m in aggregated salary.

I would keep Ja at our 5 to put AD at the 4 to help round out our roster.

So this move could technically mean we can just do a straight up trade with the Pels if they don't find a third team, sign Kawhi to max, AND get it completed by the 6th as preferred? Nice.

If we really called the Pelicans back, then f*** me sideways. If a former "top agent", FO's leader makes such a boo boo, we're screwed. Klutch should get all the praise, looks like they're saving our a****... despite the moronic leadership.

    Yessir.

This 3rd team thing isn't necessary at all unless the Pels have no interest in taking in all our kiddies.

You can trade everybody to the Pels except Bron & Kuz and we can get a near max in 32m and still trade for AD and then some (whether thats one of their cheap deals or a partial AD trade kicker).

I suspect (or I'm actually hoping) we are willingly assisting the Pels to find a 3rd team so that we can dip into the honey pot ourselves to bring cheap talent our way along with AD.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Pels are shopping the #4 hard right now because they'd rather take a useful player on instead of another prospect as reported.

It's quiet, quiet is usually good as we learned with the original break of the trade. I'm sure we'll hear something within the next few hours about a third team jumping in.

I don't have a f**king clue what the hell is happening. Pelicans, Okafor, Kawhi...I am so confused.

Me and Vash are just talking possible scenarios that gets us AD and max/Kawhi.

    No one knows what's happening.

I think we need to give up the third max dream. Seems like the Pelicans would have to do us a favor just because they're feeling nice? Remember, it's not in the Pelicans' interest to help us AT ALL. By giving us an avenue to sign Kawhi, it makes the likelihood that the picks we owe them will be that much worse. If anything the Pelicans would want us to have to fill in the roster with some mediocre players in order to be one AD or Lebron injury away from getting a lottery pick. Someone in the front office f---ed up royally. Don't know if it was our dedicated cap guy, Pelinka, or Rambis being his moronic self and forcing us to trade before we could iron out the details. But this is inexcusable.

I think you're just reading into all the biased reports way too much. This is exactly what these writers want you and all the Laker haters to believe. The way I'm seeing it, the groundwork for the trade was laid out when it was agreed upon. Everyone thinks thinks this is what we settled for. It's obviously not set because the Pelicans are shopping the #4. That means there can be so many more moving parts to this trade than we thought. As I and others have posted before, there are multiple paths, and not difficult ones, to getting the max. Whether we move Wagner, Bonga, and Jones to that third team or straight up to the Pelicans, there are ways to getting to the max.

    https://lebronwire.usatoday.com/201...keep-maximum-cap-space-and-get-anthony-davis/

Just let the cards play, trust Rob for once. Getting NOLA to agree on the trade was a MAJOR step in this process, we haven't someone of substance traded to us in a LONG TIME. And I'm sure Rob wouldn't have agreed without knowing the repercussions and having contingency plans for getting back as much cap space as possible. The Pelicans would be screwed out of their package too, let's not act like they wouldn't lose out on packages from other teams because they agreed with us, and forgo other first rounders that they could have had from today's draft. There's no other haul they could get like ours, the trade is a two way street.

^^^ 100% I've learned to completely tune out the main stream Sports Media on issues like this.
They really know nothing & absolutely have an Agenda.

To be clear, I'm not saying the Lakers should stop trying, I am saying as fans we should prepare to be disappointed here.

Lakers have fed the media s***. Therefore, the media is giving US s***. Do you get it now? It all makes sense if you sit back and focus on it. Even Ramona is pissed at the Lakers because Pelinka has been doing nothing. Jeanie, Rob, Buss fam, Ryan, whoever is working in the Lakers offices are on radio silence and doing work. I like it. I love it. When the Lakers get their 3rd star, everyone is gonna continue to eat s*** except Laker fans.

I am always clear. I don't need to be cleared. Preparing for disappointment is what losers do, not winners. Winners MAKE it happen. See AD trade for proof a few days ago and Lebron James a year ago.....

Isnt Love considered a stretch big man?

Didn't Griff once trade for Love?

Didn't Griff want an all-star (Love), a young star (Zo/BI) and picks (4 for 5 pick swap with LA future picks heading to Cleveland)?

Isn't there rapport between Rob, Coby Altman (see Nance/JC trade) and Griff?

It's too quiet before the draft, ESPECIALLY for us and the Pelicans with the #4, something is brewing for sure. I can feel it.
