    Thank you! The quick version?

    - how embarassing was Magic's last couple months? Oof!
    - Rob I wasn't sure about, but I'm not doubting him now.
    - Jeanie looks like she may have backed her way into success which isn't an insult necessarily but damn did we luck out!
    - the trade price was high, but it's worth it to have 2 MVP type guys!
    - and lastly since we're in the Davis thread: this man is a modern day Shaquille O'Neal. He puts up numbers that we've literally only seen from Hall of Famers and he's a perfect fit for LeBron. I'll miss the kids, but only long enough to see the Brow dunking on the Bucks in the Finals!

And lastly lastly, I'm not expecting Kawhi, but I am definitely hoping for it! If not him, I'd love Kemba or Jimmy Butler even. And of course I'd love Kyrie too just for the pure fun of seeing the C Bags burn baby!

    This is from the article:

What the hell is Woj even saying here? Am I just misreading him or is this self-contradictory and inaccurate?

First he says we need to get rid of these salaries to do the trade and get max slot on July 6th.

Then he says that if Davis doesn’t waive his trade kicker, even the original trade wouldn’t be able to go through.

Then he says the Lakers still need to delay the trade in order to get max cap space ... unless they incentivize the Pelicans to delay the trade.

I’m so confused, this dude is spinning all over the place.

Notice that j****** used the word "scrambling". How do you know they are "scrambling" to get a deal done? Rob Pelinka cleared all the bad contracts and got the Lakers out of cap hell in 18 months. Why would he be "scrambling" to acquire 2nd round picks and unload players like Moe and Bonga?

Lakers want to retain as many assets as they can while bringing in AD and a 3rd max. Completing the deal in August accomplishes that, while we retain Moe, Bonga and JJ, as well as AD getting his full trade kicker (4.1m).

But if everybody is eager to get a deal done on July 6th, while keeping Kuz, then you sign your 3rd max player 1st, then before the ink dries on that max free agent deal, you trade for AD right after. You don't need a 3rd team to add Moe, Bonga and JJ to the initially agreed upon deal of Zo, BI, Hart and picks.

The only reason you need a 3rd is because the Pels don't want the 4th, Moe, Bonga and JJ and need an assist to find them a new address. The Lakers can also benefit in that they can extract the lesser assets that Nawlins doesn't want from that 3rd team (like 2nd rounders).

Lastly, the other "downside" to losing Moe, Bonga and JJ is that AD can only extract 40% of his trade kicker (1.6m) from Gayle Benson/Nawlins for d***ing him around last year instead of dealing him to us in good faith. His salary will reflect the trade kicker on our books, but she is responsible in paying the man.

I'd like to keep Bonga. We need cagey vets on this roster.

But seriously, we might have 99% roster turnover because Lebron didn't like them?

:Magic Shaking Head No: :Nope: :Kobe Speechless:  :Kobeheadshake:

Lebron might be my favorite player, but I sure hope dudes want to play with him like he thinks they do. If not, we're going to have a scrub roster and 3 dudes on load management.

Okay, thanks man this definitely helps clear things up. Woj’s take on this was so poorly worded and confusing.

And Woj/Marks keep suggesting that New Orleans has no incentive to do this. But it doesn’t harm them in any way either. They’d be getting the same assets on their same desired date, we’d just be offloading Bonga/Wagner/Jones in the process to a third team. Theoretically we may even find a third team that would swing a second rounder to New Orleans as part of the trade.

Well, they do have incentive to not help. Remember, they have our picks. They dont want us getting Kawhi as it would probably guarantee all those picks stay in the 20s.
