YES. There's a way to get the 3rd max contract without having to wait 30 days IF AD waives his trade bonus and we're able to dump Moe/Bonga/Jones to a 3rd team in a 3-way deal with the Pelicans which will allow us to match salaries. The first thing that would need to happen though is we use all our cap space on that third superstar. Once we do, THEN we'd execute the 3-team trade for AD. This way, we don't use ANY of our cap space to absorb AD's deal (which is what we're doing right now since Hart/BI/Zo equal $17.9M and we'd need to send out $21.5M to match salaries with AD since he's at $27.1M).

I don't view Bonga or JJ as major losses here...and as much as I'd like to keep Wagner...if it means getting Kawhi or Kyrie...we can sacrifice him. We don't have to give up Kuz in any scenario unless AD is hellbent on getting his trade bonus...which he won't be once we get a 3rd superstar...and I'm sure AD will want to have Kuz on the roster too.

We can keep Kuz and get max space if AD waives kicker

My question is if we can keep Kuz and Mo plus get max space?

If we buy a few 2nd rounders does it do it for us since the cap hold is 0 until we sign, but it takes away from the cap hold of 900k correct?

What will WOJ and ESPN do if we clear that space? They've been so certain that we won't be able to get another star because we're short on cash. They've written off all the top tier guys for us.

I guess then they'll have to drive home that without depth, we'll get hurt and 3 stars can't get it done.

    First, can't get AD.
Second, uh... can't get another star. Look at the books. They're short.
Third... no depth. Role players and ring chasers don't want to come here.

    Please. It's getting absurd.

We're clearly going all in for a 3rd guy and my money is on that guy being Butler.

The trade kicker is being made way more than it ought to be.

I can see why AD would want it other than it's 4m dollars haha...he/Klutch would want it cause Bennett would have to pay for it...even if it's over her dead body. He'll count as 31.2m on our cap sheet, but make no mistake about it...she has to pay it...not us.

Nawlins trolled us/him at the deadline and kind of cost him the season as well as individual awards like All-NBA team honors. I'm sure he wants pay back.

But do you think a guy that forced his way to LA... literally forced himself here...is hellbent on getting a trade kicker if it mucks up his chances at winning here?

I love Bron and the possibility of Kawhi...but they won it all. AD hasn't yet. That dog is hungry and he's not going to let no 4m get in the way. Dude did shoot down a chance at the supermax, right?

I think it's Kawhi. But wouldn't be upset at all if it were Butler.

I'm just not convinced that Kawhi would choose the Clippers over us.....so much misinformation from Woj lately regarding us...it's very clear he has an agenda against us...

    Question for you or anyone

Can Butler replicate what Kyrie did in Cle for Lebron in terms of just iso and take over for a couple plays when Lebron is resting on the possession or on the bench? His age and injuries worry me a bit.

Having no damn guards to create/score/play good d is worrisome.

I know its been said a few times but this is an easy, quick tweet thread to read if anyone is still confused on how we can still get a Max slot no matter the date the trade is finalized:

Also, everyone should follow these folks if you haven't already

But they aren't guards and don't hit the 3 ball too much, that is my issue

Also if its Jimmy, Kuzma can't be closing (which may be fine).
    2 guards, Jimmy, Lebron, AD

Can't have Kuz out there too, not enough spacing and maybe a bit too slow on perimeter

    My preference:
    1. Kawhi
    2. 3 nice pieces
    3. Kyrie/Jimmy
    4. Kemba

Just not sure between Kyrie and Jimmy.
Kyrie is a better fit, younger, better talent, 3 point shooter, and has played with Lebron. But he has injury problems and can cause problems
Jimmy is a better defender and can hit also create for himself. But he has injury problems, older, can also cause locker room problems, and fit isn't perfect.

I think Kyrie by a bit b/c of 3 point shooting, but Jimmy brings more defense. Depends who we can get for room and mins

I would also not mind DLO/Middleton for like 25-27M a year and use other 5-7M on someone. I prefer that over Kemba I think

I agree. The trade kicker doesn't even worry me. As you said, the dude turned down a supermax because he wanted to come here and win. So he turned down tens of millions of dollars...to force his way to the Lakers...to win championships. That trade kicker will not be the thing that prevents AD from teaming up with Kawhi Leonard for the next 6-7 years.

I feel like Rob is Grand Admiral Thrawn with all these happening. Just exemplary preparation for whatever curve ball that is thrown, I hope he executes his plan and continue his silence like a BOSS.

So... what did I miss? Oh that's right.

Laker Nation is back baby! AD and LeBron is a title contender especially with the Warriors hobbled. Now nail down Kawhi and let's start a real dynasty again!
