We get AD and keep one of the young big 3 and that's a win. Some people act like LBJ is washed. He and AD together is the best 1-2 punch in the NBA next season. No Curry/Durant out there (sadly, for KD).

If we have that in place and a near max slot open, we'll get another stud. Just get AD done now. We have to get back to real title contention to circumvent the horrific PR we've had lately.

IF this deal gets done, I’ll be very curious to see how much can be attributed to Pelinka and how much to Klutch.

I relied on Kobe’s description of Rob being a hard worker and very smart, but of course the poor character issues weren’t included with that. If Rob does well then this may bode well for his tenure in that position and strengthen confidence in him. But, if it was mostly Klutch, then I don’t see the point of Rob being around.

I don't care what 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th team the Knicks find. Their assets aren't better and since this is unanimous league wide, they can't net better assets from other teams to help them. We can. Two teams that can help us like Zo. I can't recall seeing any team reportedly being enamored with any of their assets.

    One horse race.

And with what happened to Durant, I don't see Kyrie going anywhere by himself. Is playing with Butler and NY bums or the Nets solid role players more attractive than AD and Bron? NO.

No kd, aging cp3 and this team was top 4 when healthy. All the young guys will be a bit better. I think its crazy not to think
they have a shot at the WCF

This whol thing reminds me of the D12 talks. Lakers are the front-runners, need a 3rd team, Brooklyn is a possible threat...

... but the entire time you just knew the Lakers would get the guy.

I actually agree. Keeping the core with LeBron, upgrading role players, and getting a solid player with the cap space and we can absolutely get to the WCF with good health.

But I like the odds with Davis SO much more.

Not when he's looking to leave. The narrative is they're better without him. It was a bad fit. The optics, whether intentional or not, of shedding his jersey his last game there along with his comments throughout this process makes me thinking his bags are packed for somewhere.

The only one this gets botched is if other western conf teams get emboldened by the KD injury and think "Hey, if we put out an attractive enough offer and land AD, we can win it all next year". I'm looking at Blazers, Nuggets, Rockets, and Thunder right now. I don't think any of these teams can put together an offer that lands them AD AND puts them in contention to win it all..unless the Pels are enamored with Nurkic and any of the Blazers young guys, I don't see anything happening there. Nuggets are a threat...they could value Gary Harris enough along with Beasley, Millsap and MPJ (they can also substitute a guy like Plumlee into this). Rockets, they probably could built a package around Capela and Gordon plus 4 future first round picks and maybe that's enough to get something done...and Thunder of course could build a package around Steven Adams and future picks and probably Terrence Ferguson.

You gotta think of Rockets can get AD to pair with Harden/Cp3, they are title favorites with KD being out. Is that worth it for Daryl Morey? Probably.

You gotta think of Nuggets can pair AD with Jokic/Murray and keep enough of their depth, they become favorites to win the west. Would they give up their young talent for a shot at a title? Denver isn't known for taking risks like this so I doubt they actually throw their name in the hat.

Blazers likely can't make a strong enough offer unless they offer McCollum, and I don't believe that would really work for them and they'd probably not win it all with Dame/AD pairing and not much else.

Thunder are the team that could throw an offer together and give up multiple picks to make it happen. Is Steven Adams a good fit next to Zion? Can ferguson slot in at the 2 spot and be that prolific young player for them? Are the OKC future picks (likely to be 3-4 of them to make this deal happen) going to be worthy for NOLA?

It's tough to say. I think Rockets can throw together a decent package as Capela and Gordon are likely good fits with the current roster and the Rockets don't lose too much and they bet on harden/AD pairing to win championships while KD is hurt and they maximize CP3's value as well.

I still think we're in the driver's seat here...but I just worry that these other WC teams get aggressive for AD because of KD injury

In the West, I don't think his injury changes anything. He was gone. Out. Big Apple bound. They're not a threat when that's commonly agreed upon across the league. So why would him all of a sudden being out a year (possibly) make that a thing?

I said that our offer still beats these offers...I'm just saying Griffin might be tempted to take a lesser deal for all the reasons we've always known regarding trade talks with Lakers.

Also, Malik Beasley is not a RFA this summer but he will be next summer (just like Ingram)

But would you rather be one of 6 teams with a shot for the rest of Bron's tenure or be the favorites/second favorite for the next 8 years? Cause that's what we potentially have a chance for. You get AD and Kawhi (doubtful) or Kyrie (quite possible with AD out) and that's what you're in the discussion for.

I think that the NY stuff was overplayed...now we know for sure that KD will be OUT for the year regardless of NY or GS because there was always still a possibility that he stays with GS....but now that won't matter. That's why I was thinking teams will act on this certainty that he's not playing next year...so western conf contenders will act accordingly

No one is lining up to get Kevin Knox just because he is young? Shocker.
