I do not see how this deal isnt done this week the way we know it gets done. Lakers get AD and fillers, Phoenix gets Lonzo for the 6th pick and New Orleans get the 4th, 6th and Brandon Ingram. That is one hell of a haul for New Orleans.

Thing is, we just haven’t done a good job pumping up our young guys. I’ve complained about that for awhile.

Add the inconsistency and injuries and here we are.

Land AD and a legit free agent and no one is worried about how much we paid though.

Can't believe people think Knox and Ingram are the same. Or that Tatum is clearly a tier better.

Seems like fan hate more than real takes. If NO thinks this...best of luck...

Lakers have Lebron James. Knicks have no one. AD is going to the Lakers. Knicks is a leverage team to make the Lakers throw everything. Knicks aren't in this. This is one team race right now.

It’s true, the draft guy that was on Locked on Lakers last week, Sam Vecenie, said teams around the league may be trying to get our young guys for less because they look at our org as being bad at developing young talent. Pointed to Russ and Randle’s production this season outside of LA as examples, said teams may be looking at Lonzo and Ingram the same way, get them on a team that knows how to develop young players and watch them break out. We definitely have not maximized their value, but if we land AD for them, it won’t really matter in the end, because landing a superstar for them is absolutely their max value.

There is a small market tax in free agency where those teams gotta pay a little more to nab tier 2 FAs when tier 1 FAs don't give them the time of day, so it all kinda balances out.

But the Lakers tax is so obvious now cause the media drives that narrative. I mean we were rumored to open with a weak offer for AD, but that's part of negotiations. We ended those talks rumored to give up the entire lot of our young assets...yet for some reason Shams glossed over that in his recent report:

No one made a real stink about AD's pops comments towards the cbags, claiming they were still in the driver's seat because of Ky. Then Ky is rumored to be Nets bound and AD now doesn't have them on his short list.

So these narratives stay wild and the media seems to have motive in doing so....

LeBron wasn't winning either until he got better teammates. Don't forget, NO was on roll until Boogie busted his achilles.

Yeah. Sucks listening to people trash our young players but it’s just another area where the organization just dropped the ball.

Cleveland didn't trade for prime Amare, because they were high on JJ Hickson iirc

Actually none of those guys won anything of note without another all-star next to them. LeBron got to the Finals once and then struggled to get back through the C Bags. Kobe couldn’t get those crap Lakers teams out of the first round until we traded for Pau, and Shaq was swept in the Finals and then WCF in 97 and 98 (and lost 4-1 in ‘96 in the 2nd round). Davis losing with a mediocre team is absolutely nothing to hold against him, after Cousins went down 2 seasons ago he still carried his team to the playoffs and IMO deserved the MVP over Harden.

His teams have been mediocre to garbage. Look at some of the rosters he’s had, a lot of guys who aren’t even in the league anymore. The one time he had another higher tier player next to him in Cousins he tore his achilles

So you’re punishing him for not being Kobe? Come on, that’s grasping at straws to hang onto your argument. The West has also been ridiculously loaded 1-10/11 the last however many years, maybe as deep as it’s ever been.
