I see, I assume having Rich Paul as his agent means it's basically a given he stays if he's traded here.

So according to Woj, for now Boston's out and we need a 3rd team to make this work. I'm looking at ATL, Phx and Chicago....Get to work armchair GMs.

    The most noteable quote:

I could be wrong, but that doesn't sound like too much of an ask. I'm just thinking out loud, that we the Lakers can supply the future draft picks (Multiple future 1sts) and we can supply the one young player (potential all star) in Kuzma, Ingram, or Lonzo and then a 3rd team would need to supply the all star player now. I'm not sure what they would get in return though....

right approach from griffin. wonder if we'll get word of the wish list prior to the deal being done. can't armchair until we have it.

    my guess is:

-at least 1 bluechip young prospect
-at least 1 top 5-ish pick
-one more of either of those
-other goodies/sweeteners in the form of draft picks or low-cost useful players

    edit: forget that.

    apparently we know.

an all star, a prospect, and 2 1sts.

ok. which allstar can we get for one of our prospects and the #4?

    double edit:

    *scratches head*

pretty much all allstars that aren't FAs aren't readily attainable. further, their teams can't really put together a davis package that fits griffin's parameters.

something has to give, i'd think.

    Lakers, Pelicans and Suns.

Pelicans get the #4, #6, and BI
    Lakers get Anthony Davis
    Suns get Lonzo Ball

Fillers in there to make numbers work. That's one hell of a trade for everyone, especially the Pelicans.

Thinking this as well. Lonzo to Suns and their picks to New Orleans with BI and fillers ticks all their boxes minus the "allstar", but hopefully Griffin views BI as close enough to that as possible.

That's not enough and not what Griffin is asking for if we're going by the quote in the article.

Well, neither Lakers, Suns, or Knicks have an allstar to even give up. So I'm not sure if Griffin is going to get everything he's asking for. We can only hope he has some leeway.

    lac: no allstars
bkn: only allstar is an RFA
    ny: no allstars
    us: no allstars

    pardon the mess:

G Kemba Walker Charlotte Hornets 3
    G Kyrie Irving Boston C Bags 6
F Kawhi Leonard Toronto Raptors 3

F Giannis Antetokounmpo Milwaukee Bucks 3
    C Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers 2

G Kyle Lowry Toronto Raptors 5
G Victor Oladipo Indiana Pacers 2
F Khris Middleton Milwaukee Bucks 1
G Bradley Beal Washington Wizards 2
    G Ben Simmons Philadelphia 76ers 1

F Blake Griffin Detroit Pistons 6
C Nikola Vučević Orlando Magic 1
G Dwyane Wade Miami Heat 13 (RETIRED)
    G D'Angelo Russell Brooklyn Nets 1

G Stephen Curry Golden State Warriors 6
G James Harden Houston Rockets 7

F Kevin Durant Golden State Warriors 10
F Paul George Oklahoma City Thunder 6
F LeBron James Los Angeles Lakers 15

G Damian Lillard Portland Trail Blazers 4

G Klay Thompson Golden State Warriors 5
F Anthony Davis New Orleans Pelicans 6
F LaMarcus Aldridge San Antonio Spurs 7
C Nikola Jokić Denver Nuggets 1
    C Karl-Anthony Towns Minnesota Timberwolves 2

F Dirk Nowitzki Dallas Mavericks 14 (RETIRED)

    Free Agent
    Not Being Traded

Just not sure how this gets done. I realize I'm taking the allstar thing too literally, but the point stands in general:

the ones who are available (lowry, aldridge, griffin, oladipo) can't be who he's talking about, and everyone else's team would want davis to pair with their allstar, not to replace them. The underlined guys aren't being moved for ingram and #4. Or tatum and brown. Or knox and the #3. Or whatever the hell it is the clips think they're selling (SGA and...gallinari's hair gel?).

edit: still think philly offering simmons is a dark horse here. they can't let that leak prior to making the deal, though.

Normally when stuff like this gets reported, I feel it's to drive/guide the marketplace. You get the sense that a deal is semi-done, but Griff is looking for better offers/scenarios.

Darkhorse all-star candidate: JWall. He's a Klutch klient and Rich can grease the wheels for Washington to be that 3rd team. The Wiz have the 9th pick and can use it to dump JWall's deal and start building around Beal. We most likely send out Zo, BI and the 4th as the major principles with the 4th most likely being the only asset in a Lakers deal to be a lock in going to the Pels.

So I looked at the all-star players of this past season. A lot of the ones worth having for NO are going to be free agents (Durant, Leonard, Thompson, Walker, Irving, Vucevic, Butler) or are players that won't be traded for (Antetokounmpo, Oladipo, Lillard, Curry, Jokic). The only 2 that we could get realistically trade for are Griffin or Beal. The Beal one seems the most plausible as Griffin would cause a log jam at PF and his contract would cause a log jam of frustration. (EDIT: Aldridge is realistic too although Popovich wouldn't deal with us lol)

So to them, is Beal (for Ball, Hart, Kuzma), Lonzo, and 2 "sliding scale" firsts enough? I don't think they realized there weren't many all-star players to be had in this request as most are free agents.

If the wizards could send Wall to the Pelicans and get out of that contract they wouldn't want anything in return. They'd just be thrilled to get out of that horrible contract. Haha

They would also use the 9th to get out if it. So you got JWall on the books for nearly 35% of their cap, but then you got Zion, 4th and 9th all on rookie scaled controllable deals. If BI is Nawlins bound, he most likely takes up around 20% of your cap space.... So Nawlins won't be in any danger to pay taxes any time soon. Also they were planning on offering AD the supermax, so you know they planned out their books accordingly. JWall's deal really won't adversely affect them as it is currently doing in Washington with Beal still eligible next year to be supermaxed as well.
