What easier way to leave a franchise than with a title?.......right?

Yeah if they're going to make the Finals they might as well win the title. Kawhi would instantly become a Canadian legend and his next challenge will be to turn around a historic and dysfunctional franchise. What better way to build on his already impressive resume, but more importantly, his branding.

lol. probably. i wouldn't be that sad about it. i know he's a whipping boy for not showing up in the playoffs, but i love his attitude. he could help whip the youngsters into shape. and he's expiring in 20, right?

beats the hell out of signing kcp for 30 million or something.

Depends...what is Lowry's value? Can the Raptors get a player or package that is better than Lowry for Lowry? Can they even get promising young pieces? He's a 33 year old pg.

So about that age old debate about whether RC Buford is a good trader...Rozan/29th pick for this...

    What a load of... management!

I don't care much for Lowry, but I'm with you in that he's not the worst backup plan. There's a very real possibility that we strike out on the big free agent targets. If that happens and assuming we don't give up any of our top assets, there are worse ways of punting to 2020 than taking a flyer on the expiring contract of a guy with a lot of playoff experience -- even if he's typically a no-show. There is no chance that this route would be at the top of the list of potential moves, but it's a lot better than a MozDeng situation. Unlike Rondo, Lowry could actually play with Lonzo and it fills a need while providing a ton of space to potentially sign AD in 2020. Much rather do this than pay the max to Kemba or something of that ilk.

man if that happens WE better be the ones getting assets and NOT giving....nobody should be taking on a 33yr old with a 33mill contract w/o incentive going to the team taking on that $.

If our backup plan is Lowry at $33 mil, I'd rather have no pg at that point.

In comparison to that scenario I would be thrilled with the one more summer improved Caruso and he does a lot of things well. Not a starter but as an alternative to Lowery at that contract .... hells to the no.

It's one year. The size doesn't matter much at that point.

If we get Kyrie, that will be the 3rd point guard in the last 2 years or so that we got that played for the *******. The previous 2 didn't work out. This could be a pattern that should be avoided.

I hope you don’t mean “in shape” literally, because if we’re talking leading by example Kyle’s shape is round. Dude always looks one extra piece or slice of anything away from ballooning.

I’d have said the same thing before seeing all the mediocre trade packages that landed stars over the last couple seasons. Jimmy Butler was had for scraps twice, and his locker room baggage has to be comparable to Lowry’s age/bad playoffs baggage. I could see the Raptors pulling a disgruntled star for Lowry, the Wizards are always there open to doing something stupid like give up Beal for him probably.
