what about a guy like Bazemore? He looked pretty good during meaningless games at the end of his time as a Laker, we didn't keep him, and he ultimately became a pretty good player. Caruso will never be an NBA starter, but i'm fairly certain he'll be on a roster next year whether it's the Lakers or not.

Here’s my annual state on the state of the Lakers v1

It’s Lebrons fault, and even though he’s my favorite player, I can admit that.

He did not elevate his teammates. He did not adapt his game to give the team what they needed. (Post presence) career worst in free throws. Refusal to play off the ball despite his aging high mileage body and high turnover level. Made Luke the scapegoat by not playing the system properly, was terribly lazy off the ball moving and on defense, cherry picked for empty stats, and isolated himself from younger teammates.

Magic should be forced to coach him the entire year so we can hear two little girls squabbling and blaming each other all season long for their shortcomings.

The fans deserved better this year. They deserve better next year too, but at this rate I’ll watch as many games next year as I watched the last month.

The Lakers have managed to isolate and discourage their entire fan base, and there are no signs it will turn around any time soon. #LakerNation

With the Irving rumors starting up again, does this mean Ty Lue is coming here too?

Yeah he’s gone. Terribly dysfunctional organization, wouldn’t be surprised if this sort of thing is what primarily cost us Randle.

One reason it's unhealthy to not have your own coaching hire, are the sloppy leaks.

Lakers bring Irving here, Lonzo is gone. Irving is a cancer to young developing teams. BI already wants out. So, if the Lakers are gonna bring Irving here, it better be with AD. Otherwise this will get worse.

How did Luke and the coaching staff know Maginka were talking to Kidd? The article indicates that it's the coaching staff that has a problem with Maginka. Obviously, there are others in the FO who do too or else Luke and the coaching staff wouldn't know about these phone calls to Kidd.

When you go behind Luke's back to gauge the interest of a coaching candidate (Kidd) to replace him, and you don't keep that in-house, this crap happens. It also discourages other coaches from wanting to come here if they know that's how an organization is going to treat them.

Luke was about and was achieving installing a great team culture. These guys no one can even trust what they say now knowing what's up with their plans.

these leaks are quite embarrasing to the franchise...its a good reflection of how things are being ran by when you give reign to 2 equally inexperienced individuals in the 2 most important role of any nba franchise. IF these 2 (maginka) dont work out, Jeanie needs to take accountability for her action on this hire. She needs to step down her perch and stay in her lane again and back to the marketing portion decision only!

What concerns me is Magic and Rob not being on the same page. Like I think Magic is going to get more time here and he probably should, but I’m also thinking Rob was a bad hire because he had zero experience. Oram reported today that Magic is looked at as an absentee executive

And as that article points out, it’s not the first time that’s been said as LeBatard said this a while back and I don’t have a hard time buying it

I wouldn't read too much into this. It's all from the Oram article recently published on the Athletic. Good read, but a lot of fluff intended to sell subscriptions. I have one (I know...) and I'm happy to share pieces of the article if you're interested. But much of it has been quoted here at some point.

We're in LA, these sorts of hit pieces are very common. It's been a while since we've been relevant enough to talk about this late into the season, but anytime things go awry someone, be it the LA Times, ESPN, or now the Athletic, will always publish something deriding Laker's management, coaching, the star player, etc. Remember the 2012-2013 season? It was similar, but obviously with social media and the NBA's growth everything is much more *in your face* now.

Honestly, the most interesting thing was how we apparently had a trade lined up for Jabari Parker (for Beasley and KCP) but KCP vetoed it. That expiring could have proven valuable, and would have also meant we kept Zubac. Klutch sports coming through in the CLUTCH yet again...

"I have been told by multiple sources that Magic Johnson is doing that job the way that I thought Magic Johnson was going to do that job. Sort of whisking in and out of the office. ‘Yeah fire everyone. Trade everyone. You’re doing a bad job. I’m going to run my movie empire.’ Is he still doing that? The details, the specifics of the doing of that job. Magic Johnson has been given all of the power and isn’t doing any of the work that usually gets done. He’s doing the job the way Phil Jackson did the job.

He’s pretty mad at (Rob) Pelinka from what I’ve heard."

    Holy s***.

    vash posted above this quote.

"At one point, some in Walton’s circles feared Paul was trying to use the Davis situation to leverage a coaching change, with the premise being that his arrival would require a higher-caliber coach. But the Lakers received backchannel information that Davis liked Walton and that relieved pressure on the third-year head coach.

    "

7 - 10 days ago OX brought up they need to bring in a coach that AD wants and screw LeBron. At first I thought it was pipe. But then I thought if there were smart people running the future of the Lakers between Magic and Rob and Klutch .... that for the future of the franchise they should leverage LeBron's a** about it. Tell him AD's not coming to play with a placeholder coach. But eff me. There don't seem to be any really classy and smart people in this group based on what they did this year collectively.

how would that parker trade help us keep Zu? Parker made 20mill to kcp 12 and they're both techincally expiring.

We wouldn't have traded Beasley and Zubac for Muscala, since Beasley was in the KCP-Parker trade.

Luke’s been a dead man walking for awhile. I wish they’d have just canned him at midseason but Jeannie probably saved him. Not sure what there was for him and Magic to discuss over the last few weeks.

The rest just sounds like various sources trying to control narrative.
