The thing that has bothered me about Russ criticism has been, “Everyone does that!” No, they don’t. Like, almost no one does what he has done - this many times and this young. He’s a special player, even if he doesn’t end up being an all-time great. That takes longevity and sustained excellence. Hard to predict.

I hope he kills the Lakers in front of Magics eyes...

But knowing Magics ignorance, he probably doesn't care and in his world is doing an amazing job lol

Not only was he our best prospect, he was the most marketable too. A backcourt of Lonzo/DLO and a frontcourt of Ingram, Randle, Zubac would have been a dynasty in the making. Lou and BLo could have been retained too. That is a playoff team today. Instead we have an aging Bron and another trip to the lottery.

Too many bad decisions in a span of 2 years... Magic is so short-sighted, only thinking about making a big splash. The unwillingness and inability to develop the kids is maddening. Jeanie made the right call by firing her brother, but had she kept Mitch and hired West, we would have the best FO in the league today, trending towards Warriors 2.0

This is so f***ing disappointing. I haven't watched our games for 3 weeks now, with another 6 months to follow.

I wouldn’t call that a dynasty in making, but I would and have likened it to the ‘94, ‘95 era Lakers teams. Van Exel, Jones, Divac, exciting, fun playoff team with room to work with to make it a title contending team. But, we’re lazy and always want the shortcut, and to be fair no team says no if LeBron wants to join. Also, I don’t mind Mitch being gone, I don’t think he would have been to happy to work under Jerry West again after he’d already gotten the job when he left, it would be a demotion. We should have hired West back, even if we hired Magic, they could work together. And if not Magic, the search should have at least been longer and for truly qualified people. They’ve said multiple times on the Lakers podcasts I listen to that plenty of really qualified people would have loved to interview for the Lakers job and felt slighted that people that have zero experience got hired just because of their Laker ties.

yeah, it's not a dynasty, but it's a playoff team with room to grow and assets galore should a trade for a superstar rear its head.

as for the FO decisions, i guess it's starting to look like ownership is heavily implicated in the problems if the reports are true. what's magic doing overruling scouts on draft picks? who's holding him and rob accountable for what's happened this year? that's got to be ownership, i guess. jeannie doesn't seem mad enough to me.

anyway, this is the russell thread. i seriously wonder if he quit drinking.

In the article Weezy posted, Russ's brother talks about how the whole family changed their diets, led by D'Angelo. I take it that includes drinking and partying less, but it wasn't explicit on that point. It blows my mind how it takes young bucks so long to figure out how important food, rest, and laying off the sauce is to being a dominant athlete.

Most 20-point, 10-assist games this season:
    Westbrook 22
    Harden 21
    LBJ 15
    Kyrie 14
    Trae Young 14
    Russ 10

Nets' magic number is 6 (I think) right now.

DRuss' health looks really good. I'm happy for the kid. When he got traded, his responses to the media were mature. He's shown me how much a guy can develop in a couple of years. His release has gotten so much faster. He's worked hard and it's paying off.

Worth listening for the entire 2 1/2 mins or so. Nets are building something. What are we building?
