It took them this long to realize he needed a procedure to get right and shut him down? I’m starting to be convinced our medical staff is s***.
As if it wasn't obvious from his play later this season. He just wasn't able to keep up with the pace of the game. Sigh.
I’m actually not sure I agree. I think Vitti was kind of getting outdated when he left, there was that gif calling us the “Los Sprained Ankles” when he was still here. I think Kobe just had a superhuman ability to play through almost anything, held together with tape and Vitti got away with nobody noticing our star was always hurt. Nunez was Vitti’s assistant for less than a decade, then when Vitti left he was promoted. Now he’s the head medial dude and this is his staff https://www.nba.com/lakers/training-staff
I never understood the Gunnar Peterson hire for director of strength and endurance training, based on his experience being all about training celebrities like the Kardashians who are concerned about looks, not performance. As his own dossier says his job for 25 years has been to "shape famously perfect bodies." What in the hell that has to with conditioning athletes at the NBA level I haven't a clue. I mean there is something going on with how we preparing these guys. These aren't rookie injuries. Also the total crumbling of Tyson. LBJ's most major injury, yeah I know he's getting older and Chandler too but it's strength and endurance training with which you can most prepare for injury so if you ask me this guy has had a disastrous season.
Man I’ve been trying to remember who had this as their sig and trying to find it for a few years now.
Maybe. Yes I recall we were always grumping about our staff then too. But don't recall these diagnoses with estimates of time missed being so wrong so often. Is Phoenix still the gold standard? Are we better than the NO football staff at least?
Magic and Pelinka have done so many suspect moves that its almost hard to keep track of all the blunders within 18 months.
If I remember correctly, I asked the same thing when he was hired. Training for the perfect Thor/Captain America body is a lot different than training to be a professional athlete.
Summer League taking its a tole on his body though he did looked good during it and early season. Should have sat when he first got injured. Appreciate the H(e)art but he looked awful out there.
