Sorry I disagree. Could have signed Patrick Beverly if that's what you mean by defensive PGs. They aren't worth second picks. Steph Curry, Lillard, Westbrook, Wall, Walker, Paul, ...

Every star PG in the NBA is a world beater on offense, none of them on defense.

If we drafted Lonzo for defense then we screwed up. That was NEVER part of the equation. He was drafted to produce showtime. Period. That's worth a 2nd pick.

yeah, he wasn't drafted for his defense. fox had the stronger defensive rep coming out, iirc. he was drafted to produce easy points (and thus an exciting style of play) is what i thought. and i do think he does that--just not at the rate anticipated because of the bad three point shooting.

Yeah, well, what's done is done; can't go back. Fact of the matter is this; he needs to get healthy, and I'm hoping that he doesn't have another summer of "rehabbing" and lose a chance to improve his weaknesses...

Just out of curiosity...some of y'all feel a certain way towards the Dlo/Jules exodus. Would y'all feel the same way on giving up too early with Ball's potential? Ball can't stay healthy, kinda like how DLo couldn't and Jules lost a full year.

The narrative is "we shoulda traded Ball cause DLo woulda worked with Bron"...but due to injuries, have we really seen Ball's true potential with Bron? Doesn't that still need time as well...or is he just a bust?

The same folks who wanted our FO to be patient with DLo/Jules are surprisingly the same folks rushing to judgement of Magic/Rob's job security.

    :Magicwow4:

We traded DLo away for Bron...that's how this trade will always look. No one knew Bron would come alone when he never has and when you get someone "hellbent" on coming back home, but never do...that's just hard to predict.

With the DLo/Nance/JC deal, LA created a path for Bron and Paula to take a near max deal, while still holding on to Jules.

A guy that said all that in March 2018 (after the trade deadline), suddenly wanted out of his restricted free agency after we submitted a qualifying offer to dude (indicating we wanted to keep him)...again hard to predict.

    Kinda like the folks here...

The defense has been a bit of a revelation. I watched him play on the Bruins and I was never really impressed much with him on that end. Some instincts were there for sure and he played decent team D but one on one wasn't his bread and butter. We definitely drafted him for his playmaking, passing, court vision, and his immediate and natural ability to organize an offense in a quick manner. That was always there. Thankfully for us the defense has been an incredible bonus. His three point shooting was better in college (40%) although he always kind of lacked a mid-range.

i actually think his weaknesses are almost entirely mental. not sure summer work will do much. i think we're past the point of fixing shot mechanics (not that it can't help some...). just gotta hope he gets a good shrink (not kidding) and stops getting hurt all the time.

if so, he'll have been a great pick, btw.

again: was fine with dlo being traded, just not for air. if ball is traded for an actual (not theoretical) allstar, i'm down. let's do it. yesterday.

Yep. If Ball goes for somebody like ahem ***Davis***, I'm sure most of us on the board would root for that to happen...

    It wasnt air...

    Zo
    BI
The artist formerly known as Paul
    Bron
    Jules

Small ball but still with length and loads of playmaking. It's what both Luke and the FO wanted.

What Mintz/Paula did with the "hellbent" narrative was air...a bunch of hot f***ing air.

I think you disagree because we actually agree. I said he was drafted for his shooting/offense which was worth the second round pick, but we ended up getting the number 1 ranked defender for PGs who is average at best with shooting.

We should sign Patrick Beverley this offseason FWIW.

hard to predict a rookie scaled guy wouldn't be interested in taking a qualifying offer when he wants to secure that bag? who would've thought that wouldnt' happen? :Magicwow4::Rondonod::Lebronsmoking:

^^^ And here we go again with your arguing just for the sake of having the final word.

Bottomline: he coulda had more money here in LA on a 1yr deal instead of the mid-level loss of bird rights deal he got with the Pels last summer.

He didn't secure a larger bag nor a long-term commitment with the Pels deal. This...after he stated he would love to play and learn from Bron.

This...after he knew he was restricted and had no way out unless we granted him an out.

Keep bawling a tired and faulty a** narrative tho.

see key would "could've"....his bird rights would STILL have had to be sacrificed next yr if a MAX lvl guy does come smart guy and if they did miss out a max this off season, who's to say Maginka offer's him the kind of money he's looking for?

Hey dumb guy...if the endgame was Bron, Jules and trading for a player...oh I don't know, someone like that AD guy that Jules also wanted to play with and actively recruited Jules after he became unrestricted, then Jule's bird rights "could've" been used in securing a bag and a commitment while still playing with both the guy he wanted to play with in March and then chose instead to play with in July.

Did we not do Jules a solid by allowing a restricted free agent to become unrestricted? We coulda did Jules like Myers did McCaw in the Bay.

Other than your most recent Luke takes...you've been laughable Darrell.

Btw, I found you a new avi:

And when sirron gets back, you can have him photoshop it to read Pinky & Brain with cLipper colorways of course.
