I don't feel sorry for him at all... He should have thought about a child with his brain rather than his penis. 19 year olds have no business becoming a daddy, especially when you are an NBA pro that tends to have flings all over the country and is on business trips 90% of the time. Now he has a gold digger shoving it up his *** and I'm sure even though that kid probably has enough money, it will not enjoy a healthy family life which affects any kid, regardless of the amount of money floating in the family. I feel for that kid that needs BOTH parents and the family care that is necessary. Can't repair that damage with money.
All Lonzo smack talking aside, How realistic do you think Lonzo returns to the team shortly after the all star break? Lonzo sprained his ankle on Jan 19 and was given a timetable to be out for 4-6 weeks. When the season resumes from the all star break, it would be close to 5 weeks since he first injured the ankle. History has shown us Lonzo is a slow healer and isn’t able to play through pain, he’s the anti Kobe in that sense. So what are people’s eatimates on when he would return?
Our drafting department has been great with late firsts...but have struck out 3 times at the 2nd spot. With that said, historically I believe 80% of the number 2 picks have underachieved. The difference between 1 and 2 has been HUGE.
Aside from the huge set of problems with the father, he will prove to have been a great pick at 2, though likely not here at some point not far off. I fully expect him to start finishing at the rim and greatly improving his mid range game by next year if can stay healthy. He's great at rare skills already and his elite reflexes and feel for the game. Don't know what to think about the FTs. Probably will get better. But the father and dealing with that mess come rookie extension time is a can of worms. Ingram's a grinder and worker and will be really good too. DAR ...well ... just needed to get away from here and grow up. Don't buy that we blew 3 #2 picks. Rather have not gotten what we should have out of them with our development.
Our late picks were made by the young duo of Ryan West and Buss, the lottery picks I think were made by the higher ups.
Your opinion, or you read that somewhere? I don't agree that the three #2s were a waste. DLoading has developed into an all star level player. You can debate what we did with him and why, but his skill is evident. Slenderman is already playing at the 20ppg level with LeBron off the court. And he's getting better. He is going to take a bit longer than the others because of his body, but in a year or two he's going to start hitting threes and if he does he will be the best of the three and well worth the #2 pick. Issue is whether he does so for us or the Pels. Lonzo has already, in his limited time on court, proven to be the best defending PG in the league and the best passing PG in his class. You can wonder if his shot and health will ever develop to that same level, but he is already the BEST in one key and valuable category.
It looks like our late picks are better than our early ones because the late picks are older. They spent more time in college to be able to develop their games more while the early picks are more of projects with much more potential.
Not hating...track is fire...barz, not so much! Gotta admire the sub tho...these dudes did swerve the trade deadline like whoa.
So is this bum coming back after ASB? Or is he going to be out until next year? I'm waiting for the "Lonzo will be re-evaluated in 2 weeks" tweet from Tania or Brad Turner....which means he's 2 weeks away from being 2 weeks away.
right; that and just the expectancy gap. though as someone pointed out earlier, people actually shouldn't expect much from picks outside the first overall. that's how crap-shooty the draft is in terms of star-level talent. they come from all over. the lakers have picked pretty well at #2, relative to expected output from that draft position. they've knocked it out of the park with lower picks--in part because their strategy has leaned towards taking nearly finished products. but yeah, i would have moved any or all of our #2 picks for a legit allstar in his prime, as should any team that gets the #2 pick in almost any draft. just numberz.
