Kawhi is smart not to be on social media to some degree, but then complains when he doesn't get a big shoe contract in a small market right?

Surely he is smart enough to pick a high profile historically successful franchise next year in free agency if he wants that to change. So he'll pick the Clippers?

If that happens, he wasn't the right guy for us anyways. No player potentially considered the best in the world picked the Clippers to sign with during their prime. Ever.

But after years of selfless basketball playing in San Antonio, and since he plays the same position as Lebron, will he see his best fit being here? That's hard to say.

Hey Kawhi, New York is pretty cold too. ;)

Kawhi is not playing with Lebron. The guy told Pop to F off and Pop and Lebron are two piss puddles in a pod. Jerry West has already made the Clippers respectable with no players on the team with the help of Doc going back to his roots when coaching. Jerry West in the room, with the keys to the team, no drama, all business. No doubt Jerry West closes the deal this summer with him.

^ i think you're right but saying "no doubt he's a tennant this summer" is a bit much. Remember PG in PG "fosho 100%"?

PG thing was an anomaly. I do not think anyone really knew how bad Lebron was when it came to other players.

I'd like them to sign nobody of significance, and wallow in mediocrity for the next decade till they finally move out of Staples.

I'm highly dubious that Kawhi would avoid playing on the Lakers with an MVP like LeBron due to LeBron's friendship with Pop. All players love Pop. Kawhi would have nowhere to play if this was a real factor. And respectfully, no, Jerry West has not made the Clippers respectable. They are still the Clippers, and the Clippers will never (see: NEVER) be respectable.

Everything is Lebron's fault. (meaning everything is interpreted as the residence star player's fault when something like this doesn't go right)

I meant Pop and Lebron have the same brain. And (bleep) Greg Popovich. Seriously. f***er meddles in our business every time something starts to happen with the Lakers. (Bleep) him.

Caption should read: #TeamBron been acquainted.

They even get Kawhi's humor....well Benny, you still got time... but eventually you'll get to know your future Lakers teammate too.

Honestly, I'm positive Kawhi is not coming here, to the point where I wonder why we even have this thread in Laker discussion. But for the sake of argument, I will ask Vash, Would a sign and trade of Kawhi for Ingram and Josh Hart, followed by a sign and trade of Kyrie for Ball and Wagner work? Meaning could we get both of them their full max salaries by sign and trading out those guys? My math has us at 109.5 million with fully maxed Kyrie and Kawhi along with Lebron, Kuz and Dengs fecal matter. 8 more cap holds would add around 7 million. The cap is expected to be 109. Does the 125% rule of trade salary matching work when adding cap space and player salary together?

Neither team would take that offer. The Clips would offer more if they had to for Kawhi, and the Knicks would offer more for Kyrie.

If his camp is looking for any type of leverage, the cLips should be on the list. He's looking for hot weather and family. Miami don't have the cap space nor the family, so they out. If he needs something from the Lakers, then the cLips are his only leverage play next summer.

I honestly don't see why y'all think the cLip thing is such a certain thing. Some of y'all are so "bullish" about him ending up as a cLip and seeing how Paula turned out, do I want y'all to stop with the cLips as a certainty? No.

As for the scenario you posed Savs: I can totally see both Kawhi and Ky going the Cp3 route and opting into their 21.3m player options next year to get traded to the team of their choice.

First they're both 8 year vets and after next season, they'll be entering 2020 free agency as 10 year vets eligible for the 35% max. Even if Ky and Kawhi opt out this summer, I'm positive they'll sign a 1+1 30%max deal so that they'll have the 35%max available to them the following summer.

Also, if they get traded with their bird rights in tow (via the Cp3 opt in route) then their capholds will be with whomever trades for them and it's infinitely easier to circumvent the cap restraints to get them 8% annual raises as opposed to going year to year to earn their early bird rights and giving them 5% annual raises till you get there.

As for opting out and conducting a S&t as a 30%max player...we have roughly 38m in cap space to make the numbers work if we did want to trade for both Kawhi and Ky using this route. I'll check the exact numbers later today, but I'm sure it would work since we have capspace and aren't a tax payer to skew the cap numbers in our favor to conduct a legal trade for both those players in subsequent fashion.
