I don't think it was THAT bad. The media is overblowing things. In reality, the Pelicans wanted to wait till the summer. If you were them, you would want to do the same thing. Consider all options before making a decision. From their POV, they gain nothing by pulling the trigger on a trade now other than looking like a fool for being taken for a ride by Rich Paul, LeBron, and Magic.

And now we don't have Zubac to include in the AD trade.....and we also have less cap space (5M now goes to Muscala) and the Clippers have even more cap space.

some what agree here in regards to Pelicants wanting to wait till summer, I still dont think they'll deal with Magic though.

Zu is a rfa, its not possible to include him in an AD offer till LAC signs him 1st and Pelicans are also over the cap making SnT even more difficult

 

I think they'll just make a nice player out of him and encourage him to shoot Js when they come in the flow. Zu and his GF will be so happy to stay in L.A. they will give the clips a great HT discount. Their center for next however many years to also remind us of this stooopidest 3 weeks in Lakers history when taken into context who they signed in the off season after LeBron. And not re-signing Brook.

 

This is factually incorrect. Zubac and Muscala are both expiring. Neither of them are impacting our cap room in the summer. Neither of them could realistically be incorporated into an AD trade in the summer.

 

What’s funny to me out of all this is what the Pelicans think they can actually get from this.

1. You just pissed off your franchise star and made a mockery of him by taking him off your social media. When players look to sign/resign somewhere, this is what they take into consideration. (See IT)

2. I really don’t see any package out there that would match what the Lakers brought to the table knowing full well AD has a few select destinations, and even still, those destinations have a long shot at contending right away (Clippers, Kincks) or have the assets (Bucks) to do so.

3. Why the Pelicans or Boston finds this so funny because either way, they’re both gonna get screwed if the deal with each other. Kyrie is leaving, AD’s not gonna stay in Boston, I highly doubt Ainge is gonna offer anything worthwhile. If they do offer up Tatum, welp, you just lost your top prospect. If they don’t, Pelicans just lost any leverage with us and won’t get anything close to what we offered at the deadline.
