rondo is the one guy i really hope they can hold onto

BI, kuzma, and lonzo are as good as gone but keeping rondo would be huge

So according to Ramona Shelburne on ESPN 710 she says that Brad Turner’s info is coming from New Orleans to drive the offers up for AD.

If you look at his initial tweets, it does sound like it’s coming from New Orleans:

I'm less comfortable with this deal if we end up giving up all 3 of Zo, BI & Kuz + we still have to take back a contract that destroys our Cap Space for another Max FA.. I'd most likely still pull the trigger, but that starts to change things.

Just tried this trade in the trade machine and it works:

Lakers get: AD, Bender, Troy Daniels, Elfrid Payton, Darius Miller

Pels get: Rondo, Beas, Stephenson, Ingram, Kuzma, Josh Jackson, Jamal Crawford, 2 first round picks from LAL and 1 first round pick from Phoenix

Suns get: Lonzo Ball, Solomon Hill

Essentially, the Suns trade Bender, Troy Daniels, Josh Jackson, Jamal Crawford and a first round pick for Lonzo Ball and Solomon Hill. Broken down further, this deal is really Josh Jackson and a 1st round pick for Lonzo Ball...which I think is a fair deal considering relative values for both guys.

Pels can roll out Randle, Kuzma, Josh Jackson, Ingram and Holiday...pretty solid haul and suddenly a lot of length and switchability on defense between holiday, jackson, ingram, kuzma and randle.

Suns can roll with Lonzo, Booker, Bridges, Warren and Ayton. Much better balanced starting 5 with everyone being under 25 and no pressure for Lonzo anymore being out of LA but still being close enough to home that he can go back on weekends or between games. Suns can afford to take back Solomon Hill since they'll need to meet the minimum salary

Lakers wouldn't be completely gutted from trading away 6 players and would get some improved shooting and of course, AD...and they also don't cut into their space for the summer with not having to take Solomon Hill's contract back.

Hill looks like he's available to play...will be interesting if he's a healthy scratch.

Nah LB is alright... It's just a few of you I'm still trying to figure out. But you step out from LB and goddamn there's alot Groanzo Bawl fans.

For the record, I think homers are annoying AF too... If Magic & Rob lead us to years upon years of futility, like that Mitch and Jimmy fella, then I'd be going for their heads too. But to have a realistic shot at pairing Bron and AD with Klutch probably driving us Benny sometime in the near future and some fans still crying about Dlo and Jules, while applauding the cLips for the same cap plan we already succeeded in...yeah I have a problem with those folks! Stop bawl'n.

    W/o Hill we'll have roughly 30m in cap space...w/Hill, we'll have roughly 15m and with a Hill stretch, we'll have roughly 23m.

If we can't get a near 30%max slot after an AD trade, then look for some of our free agent targets with a player option to do what Cp3 did in getting traded to Htown.

Htown had roughly 18m in cap and could have used a stretch to get up to 24m in cap (about Cp3's player option amount). The cLips did that deal knowing the threat was there and the rest is history. Kawhi, Butler or Kyrie could do the same this coming summer.

AD is walking away from a supermax...Kawhi did the same. Kyrie is threating to walk away from Boston's extra money. So some of y'all can't fathom them sacrificing a little more of their bag to establish their legacy? Really?

Also consider that this summer will be thriving in cap space with half the league having 20m or more in cap space. It will be relatively easy to get off of Hill's expiring deal.

Some of y'all need to expand your imagination. Cynicism just keeps y'all boxed in.

i'm not worried about acquiring hill

its pretty obvious the reason why hart/zubac aren't in the AD deal is that so that one can be used to ship hill out in a trade

I do it. It’s a lot, but you have to give a lot to get a superstar player who is willing to commit to you long term. Years from now we wouldn’t be complaining about the years of Zo, Kuz, and Ingram we didn’t have any more than we don’t complain about the years of Van Exel, Eddie Jones and Vlade we didn’t have because we had Kobe and Shaq. And these kids aren’t even all-stars and those players were.

Has any team (ever) traded 7 players + picks in one deal? Crazy stuff.

I might be in the minority here, but I'm personally down for that trade because I know how great AD is. We already know what this package of players does without LeBron, which isn't great. Kuzma, I understand, the rest are meh for us. LeBron and Davis is worth the risk. Davis is better than anyone else other than arguably Durant this summer anyway, so for me Solomon Hill is worth getting back in order to secure Davis.

I'm not complaining bout that pkg but I'm not expecting to be contenders either with the remaining players, we already know AD can't lead a team to much winning so if James ever gets hurt again we're pretty much the pelicans lol

I’d be a little more okay with them giving us Payton. He’s no Lonzo, but he’s a decent young guard that can backup Rondo.

    My body is ready.

The Pelicans at least made the playoffs last year and won a round, which our young group hasn’t even come close to doing. AD was also my pick for league MVP last year for getting his team to the playoffs, what he did, to me, was more impressive than what Harden did. Davis averaged 28/11/2.6 blocks last year, and he had a stretch of monster games. Yes, if LeBron goes out and we have only him we don’t win anything of note, but at least we are probably in more games, and while in those games we get to enjoy watching AD play. I’ll take the consistent greatness night in night out over the frustrating inconsistency of young players every time.

I currently live in Orlando and have seen a lot of Payton because of the local team. He had several triple doubles his rookie season with Oladipo, Tobias Harris, Aaron Gordon, and Nik Vucevic on the roster. He CAN BE as good of a passer and defender as Lonzo when he's motivated. He's as bad of a shooter from the line and the three as Lonzo though. Think of a poor man's Rondo.
