Maginka need to work on plan B and get us more help elsewhere, there's a very slim chance of AD trade happening this yr especially to us

Plan B is revisiting it in the summer and having a 35%max spot to pivot to. That's also reality...so you should accept that too!

 

whats wrong with trying to get help THIS YR? besides AD, you got guys like Ellington, Bullocks, etc. who are expiring and can help this poor shooting team, dont know why you need to take exception to me asking for roster help now. We all know AD trade is an up hill battle and they would be smart to wait till the summer.

 

Let’s assume there are in fact a handful of teams he’s consider re-signing with:
1) Who would those teams be?
2) what would they have to offer to beat us?
3) what would they have left in hopes of convincing AD to stay?

 

hmmm...who are those handful? you'd figure it would have to be teams with solid ownership/front office and/or a recent history of success, right (i mean, knicks excepted...). that's a short list.

SA? Dallas? Chicago (checks neither but is a big market and his hometown)? Houston?

don't see any of those trumping LA's offer. honestly, don't see the knicks doing that, either.

must admit that while hearing that boston is currenly out of it warms my heart, news like this makes it sound like it drags until july. when we'd still have the upper hand, imo--as long as boston's out of it.

 

ny's going to ask them to wait until the summer and promise them their draft pick. one reason this didn't happen already is that NO doesn't want to run the risk that AD helps NY win enough games this year to lower the value of the pick. so...if the knicks hit the lotto, they have the trump card, and as far as getting him to stay, i think if they get davis, they also get KD and irving, so...we get to bid on tobias harris or something particularly sad.

that said, if the knicks end up with say, the 4th pick or lower, we're still in great shape, asset-wise.

but so many things can happen between now and then. i'd just offer the house now and really hope it gets done. feel like too many things could spoil it later. now's the time if it's us, imo. also, if this trade doesn't happen, i'm pretty sure we're missing the playoffs.

 

Thursday can't come quick enough.

 

I'm talking Plan B in terms of big picture... And I think we do have a contingency in place for the grander scope of things.

As for this season, I believe they move KCP to a destination more to his liking and it's possibly a 2 for 1 type of deal so that we can bring in a shooter and in the process open up roster spots for Melo and possibly DJ (or any other name that could join the buyout market).

Still big picture-wise, I'm not doing anything to close the door on AD till that option has been exhausted and no longer viable.
