Yes, who cares if it eats into our money . If it's the worst contract in the league, I'd still eat it to get AD.

Look at it this way. At the end of last season, Bron was considered by many to be the best in the league. We haven't seen enough this season (injury) and he's been letting the kids feel it out, so it's tough to gauge where his talent level is at this season if you were to rank out the top five. It's still damn high wherever it is. You would be adding another top 5 guy who is only getting better. He's only 25 and hasn't hit his prime. Talent wins out.

The save the cap space plan for summer spending has yet to work out how we have planned. I'd rather not continue to put eggs in that broken basket.

You get AD and NO's bad contract and surround them with ring chasers, there will be plenty and maybe someone is willing to take less money to come here based on the top talent. Safer gamble.

Not to mention, how good would AD look next to a guy like Bron. All these free baskets, my gawd...

Get AD by any means necessary. Cap room for the last 4 years is done. We are done. We want players. If it means guaranteeing getting AD and losing a 3rd max, so be it. Lakers can win titles with AD and Lebron and a balanced 3 or 4 players.

Does this mean the Pelicans counteroffer is going to be:

Ball, Kuzma, Zubac, Rondo, Beasely + 2 1st round picks for AD?

Crazy enough i really wish we can keep Rondo and use KCP as the cap filler instead. Let’s be real, and either player will probably get bought out anyway and will never play for the Pelicans.

I don't think we're trading both Zo and Rajon. I know Bron can handle the PG duties but still.

I normally hate giving up first round picks (Damn you Mitch and Nash) but when you have the chance to get a top superstar player in their prime to pair with your current superstar....

You give them an extra first round pick on top of the extra one you gave them just to show your gratitude.

So.. an article was posted at some point this morning from an Arizona writer but has since been taken down. It stated that Lonzo got traded to Phoenix.

This is getting exciting! I want to keep zo by far the most out of the youngsters. I wonder if a pg is coming back in a trade?

If Phoenix somehow gets their hands on Ball, their core of Ayton/Booker/Ball is really nice to build around for years to come.

My bet is they probably would agree to send out Josh Jackson if it means getting Ball. They have a glut of swingmen (Warren, Booker, Jackson, Oubre, Bridges) so they can handle giving up one of them for a point guard they badly need.

I played with the ESPN trade machine for a 3 way trade and I think this works out for everyone...
    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y9e8zzdh

    Pretty much..

Phoenix gets Ball, Etwaun Moore (Phx agrees to take the salary dump to be able to get Lonzo.)

New Orleans gets Josh Jackson, Kuzma, Zubac, Bonga, KCP + Beasely (both are salary cap filler. KCP agrees to waive his no trade clause because he gets a trade kicker which means more money for him, and the Pelicans will probably buy him out so he can sign with any team he wants to boost his value for upcoming free agency). Lakers offer 2 first round picks, both lottery protected.

Lakers get AD, Bender, and Troy Daniels. Both Bender and Daniels are expiring contracts so we don’t have to accept the Etwaun Moore salary dump. Daniels can actually also be helpful off the bench as a 3 point specialist for the rest of the season. Because the Lakers don’t take in additional salary, we preserve cap space for the summer.

    Our team would remain as:

Rondo/Lance but probably BI as backup point guard/Caruso
    Ingram/Hart/Svi/Daniels
    LeBron
    Davis/Wagner/Bender
    McGee/Chandler

We could probably sign Wes Matthews and pipedream Sign DeAndre Jordan if they both get bought out.

    ^ that makes no sense.

If the Pelicans wanted a wing they'd ask for Ingram, who is better than Jackson by a mile, instead of Ball.

For some reason I think the rest of the league thinks Ingram isn’t very good and believe Jackson has higher upside

Strange that an Arizona reporter would even publish an article like this if there wasn’t some truth to the buzz. It’s not like any of the national reporters have thrown out any rumors about Lonzo to the Suns.

I don't see Lonzo going to the Suns since every single article about the AD trade mentions Lonzo as the centerpiece. Sorry, I'm not going to believe anything until the talks resume next week. Not buying it, though in general.

100% Agree. I think the Lakers can flip the contract anywhere they want. I feel this move happening more so than ever now that Pelis responded by trying to clog up Lakers cap space. It is their way of saying - you want him - its going to hurt. That is like saying to Michael Jordan (Byron Russell) - you want this game - you go through me. Lakers (Magic) response: Swish.
