I'm trying to make sense of what the Pels are doing, so I tried to see this whole thing play out in their eyes.

They know Danny's been calling for a year+. They know AD signed when Paul/Klutch before the season started.

They tried to make a play at Butler, but no dice. So maybe there was some mutual understanding that AD and the Pels had to see this through till the end of the year. And then the bidding war would ensue.

But with this trade demand, it caught them off guard cause it legitimately took Boston out of the loop in terms of getting in an offer NOW. That pretty much signals that AD had no intention of staying in Boston if traded there this summer. Pels knew their leverage was shot and now have to deal with this trade circus tenfold till the deadline. So the tampering request aimed at Rich Paul was to show their frustrations.

They then pivoted and are now going to trade their valuable expiring pieces like Jules and Niko to playoff contenders for draft compensation all while flipping the switch on tanking their own pick. #RoadToZion

So now that it's apparent AD doesn't want Boston, the ever stingy Ainge will not give his strongest offer for AD. Pels gotta know that and must now try to extract as many of our assets as possible.

    Let the leverage/petty wars begin...

No interest, huh? Man, I'd be burning up the phone lines on other potential deals, further weakening NO's hand. I'd also find out who the primary opponents are and start really messing with their plans in any way I can.

If we can't get Davis, we can still be fine AND ensure that they aren't.

This is just petty talk from TelePrompter reading Woj pushing the Boston agenda that they have a better package, putting the bug in the New Orleans owners ears.

If there should ever be a tampering charge, it should be against media companies who put out overtly biased material like this.

When the F have we EVER heard BSPN call out or downplay ANY of Danny Ainge’s LOPSIDED trades he made? NEVER! It’s freaking obvious.

Someone needs to stand up to these BSPN idiots and put them in their place. Freaking North Easterners are so damn annoying and petty. ALWAYS.

Sounds like, Stein who now works for NY Times, wink wink, is now in the business of pushing the Knicks agenda...surprise surprise.

Of course he’s gonna say it’s in the Pels best interest to hold out, when the Knicks miss out on the top pick and could get a top 3 pick to trade with Porzingis.

Ugh, this is getting so stupid.

You are telling me Anthony Davis isn't going to play the 2nd half of the season when he is healthy? Sounds like complete b*******. This whole thing sounds like b*******.

Yup, you can ride the roller coaster, or just sit back and watch it play out.

Embrace the roller coasters of life. Could be worse. Might be a Merry go round in New Orleans

Playing Devils advocate, but if I were Portland, I would offer McCollum and Nurkic 1st for Davis...

Can you imagine Lillard and AD together? Yeesh.

NO has no incentive to talk to us until the middle of next week.

The bottom line is we come out winners whether we get Davis or not. We have Lebron and all of our assets intact. We also have a max slot to further improve our team this summer.

The Pelicans are acting like they got leverage but they're losing no matter what. Take our offer or take your b******* elsewhere.

Adam Silver is going to need to start telling everyone to mind their own f***ing business. Tell crater face to worry about his AARP life after he retires and tell New Orleans they arent sitting a top 3 player of his league for an entire 2nd half.

It's not news that nobody wants to help the Lakers.

Even to get Howard (our last "blockbuster" deal) we had to get a 3rd (and actually 4th) team involved because Orlando just didn't want to take Bynum.

Before that our last big trade was Gasol - which wasn't even THAT lopsided considering they got a franchise big man out of it. And before that, you have to go as far back as Kobe.

It's interesting - that one big FA signing and one of the best trades of all time in 1996 pretty much ensured the Lakers didn't need to do much else (sans Gasol) to be successful for almost 2 decades. Now, it's up to Magic and Pelinka to get creative and come up big. The next 4 years could very well depend on what happens this week.
