If I'm the Lakers...do NOT come back with a low ball offer...do NOT try and play around with the Pels...jsut give them exactly what they ask for and get this done QUICKLY.

Last thing we need is a bidding war with all the other teams out there...right now, if we play nice...AD is ours. Previously, we missed out on PG13 and Kawhi because we weren't willing to part with our young guys....so if we come out and just "give up the farm"...nobody is going to say s*** about this trade and Pels can feel good about dealing AD

Close...$32.7M and we'll have $30.5M. I think with LeBron/AD though, one of Butler, Kyrie, Kawhi, Klay will be willing to take a little bit less to join forces with the best 2 players in the league. I think Kyrie is the most likely to do this btw...

where you guys get this cap # from? I tried shamssport capulator and traded for AD with Zo, Kuz, Wagner, Svi and the 1st pick and was only left with 21mill in cap once I renounced the other cap holds we have on the random dudes

Vasashi posted it earlier in the thread and he knows everything about the cap...basically that's if the Lakers clear the decks and have just LeBron and AD on the roster in the summer and they trade away BI, Zo, Kuz, Hart, Svi, Bonga, Wagner and their 2019 1st (these are the only guarantee contracts other than LeBron on the roster for next year)

That's why I'm totally fine with the Lakers trading their entire core

Get it done asap, n need to drag it till the asg. I would think, AD rather not play in front of the NO crowd.

Yup. Maybe only way of "negotiating" is leaving out Zu and putting in Mo.

Come on. Let's get it !!! The time is now.

Would there still be room to sign a third Max in the offseason?

The timing of this is Paul/Davis trying to create leverage to move him to LA.

If they wait until the offseason then Boston comes into the picture. But between now and the deadline Boston can't partake in a trade for Davis (without Irving outgoing). Technically, Davis can't force the Pelicans to trade him to LA. And looking at guys like Leonard and George, we know nowadays teams will take the best option over the disgruntled star's preferences. So, naturally Davis and Paul play the only card they have left. Demand a trade now to force NOLA to ride out an awkward rest of the season with him, or save face and trade him (to LA).

    If we sell the farm:

    Bron - 37.4m
    AD - 27.1m
    Deng dead cap - 5m
    Incomplete roster charge of 10 - 9m
    = 78.5m (30.5m of cap space with a 109m projected salary cap)

30%maxers (Kawhi, Kyrie, Kemba, Klay Butler, Boogie): 32.7m
    35%maxer (only KD): 38.2m

Let's say for instance Nawlins dumps E'Twaun remaining 2 years on us and we spare BI from the AD trade. Next year those dudes make an aggregated 16m and if they're on our books that leaves roughly 16.5m in cap space still (incomplete roster charge decreases to 8). So...

Kawhi, Kyrie and Butler have player options and all those dudes could theoretically pull a CP3 and threaten to walk into our cap space OR opt into their player options and get traded with BI/E'Twaun coming back OR they can opt out and conduct a S&T to LA.

Continuing with this example, let's say Kyrie opts out and constructs a S&T with Boston to get his 32.7m max, then 16.5m of our cap will an asorb that max contract leaving roughly 16.2m in Ky's incoming salary that needs outgoing salary in a trade...and obviously we'd have the salary in BI/E'Twaun to make that a legal trade.

Bottomline: if we take on a modest salary dump from Nawlins in an AD deal that leaks into our cap space next summer, it still does not kill our 3max player configuration.

So the following trade works in the trade machine:

    Lonzo
    Kuzma
    Ingram
    Hart
    Zu
    Svi
    Mo
    Bonga
    2019 1st

    for

    AD
    Ian Clark

This way, Lakers would have just LeBron and AD on the books this summer and about $30.5M

There's nothing to see here. Probably just to cover the NBA's a**. Paul represents LeBron so Magic and Pelinka can chat with him all they want. And LeBron can recruit Davis without any restrictions.

All one can do is laugh at this point. It's only tampering when the Lakers are involved. A star joining any other star or moving to any other big market and it's "just the league culture"...we get involved and apparently Magic is holding players at gunpoint trying to force them here. Insanity...pure insanity.
