If it looks like we overpaid then great. That way the Pelicans can feel good about the deal and we get who we want.

I'd prefer not to sell the farm. In order of who I'd want to keep, for me it is...
    1) Kuz
    2) Zu
    3) Hart
    4) Ball
    5) Ingram

And that ranking is based on fit with current roster and how they mesh with a Bron led team. Unfortunately the first two are automatically goes because they've shown the most value, upside, growth, and ability to fit with different looks. Hart is a great Bron fit. If we can keep him and keep Ingram out of that deal and find another team to take him, I'm thrilled. (Like I said in the BI thread, like the player not the fit).

But if they want everything, I ultimately fold and give them the farm. None of them are a franchise player and none of them will be a top 5 player in the league. None of our kids will lure an all-star caliber player to LA this summer. None of them will make a veteran ring chaser sign here for pennies on the dollar. None of them will win us a ring while Bron is a Laker. AD can. At 25, he's posting some career highs and still is going to get better.

You don't start by offering the farm. First you slightly lowball while looking for a 3rd team to facilitate a more attractive offer. Build from there and have Clutch crank up the pressure on NO. We have 10 days of round the clock negotiations to figure this out. No reason we should fail.

the truth is that our kids are overrated

kuzma is the only one who has consistently shown he can be a star. not making a deal now will only decrease their value (which has already decreased significantly)

Given that we failed before on PG13 and Kawhi....we cannot afford to eff this up. Meaning, we cannot afford to let the door open for other teams to make offers...which is why I put out the best offer right now and get this deal done QUICKLY so it's painless for everyone involved and AD doesn't have to go through the BS from Pels players, coaches, fans, media etc

He did it in a classy way though, and just let them know in advance he won't be staying. Giving them a chance to get something now in a crap season and maybe tank for better chances for a good pick. It didn't come off douchey to me, and they haven't specified a location at all (yet), and since his representation announced it, he can still be the Golden Child. He has done all he could for them, said all the right things (Lied to their faces btw), but they have not made moves to improve the team around him.

There are financial reasons to keep him around as long as possible. I don't think they give a crap about declining culture. Can it get worse? Oh to be a fly on the wall over there. :p

^ Great post, JSM. Personally, I'd prefer to keep 1. Ball 2. Hart 3. Kuz 4. Zu 5. Ingram.

As you said maybe offer NO the choice of 3 of the 5 to start. I still think we'll be able to keep one of them (hopefully at least Hart) but ultimately even if it took all of them to get the trade done, we do it and smile considering we'd have two of the top 5 players in the league and room to maybe sign another high level FA in the offseason.

Lakers out: KCP (w/15% trade kicker), Zo, Kuz, Hart, Zu, Beas, pickS = 6 players, 31.5m outgoing salary (can bring back as much as 39.5m in salary)
Lakers in: AD, Chriss, EMoore, FJackson = 4 players, 38.8m incoming salary

NOP out: AD, EMoore, Frazier, FJackson, KWilliams (5 players)
NOP in: Zo, Kuz, Hart, Zu, BKnight, Htown 1st, Lakers picks (5 players)

Htown in: Kcp, Frazier, Kwilliams (3 players)
Htown out: BKnight dump, Chriss, Htown 1st rounder (2 players)

KCPs been linked to Htown and they can get off BKinghts contract with a 1st rounder and Chriss for an expiring Kcp. Htown also has a roster of 14 and can take on an extra body for us in this 3teamer

NOP dumps EMoore remaining 2yr contraxt (who is helping them win games), and Frazier's expiring and FJackson's non guaranteed deals are trade filler. They get our future pickS and Htown picks for a BKnight dump. Also taking on an injured Zo and Bknight while ridding AD and Moore will allow them to tank their own pick this summer #RoadToZion

Lakers pick up Chriss (who was signed to Pelinka and is still signed to Rob's Landmark agency), pick up EMoore's shooting and can use his remaining contract along with BI to trade for Kemba, Kawhi or Kyrie via the Cp3 trade route this summer; create roster spot for Melo ...and of course #LAD.

how about kids just earn their minutes with their play instead of running to the press?

    WTH is this?

It's becoming epidemic. I'm starting to get the feeling that the NBA will be unwatchable in 10 years and full of athletically unskilled crybabies.
