He's mentally weak but it's about poor stance and footwork at the charity stripe too . He's lifting his right heel off the floor when shooting a FT and his left one stays down . WTF is that ?
Jeanie has no shooting coach amongst her friends ? ... She hired Kurt Rambis THOUGH !!! Magic wanted to hire a shooting coach before the season but Luke felt it wasn't needed ... according to Magic Sure Maginka HAS to get one now , it's embarrassing
"Transcendent PG's don't even need to be in the lineup at the end of games. Their work is already done."
But is a shooting coach solving all issues? Look at Fultz... Worked all off-season with Hanlen who is a shooting guru and the result is the same. You either have it or you don't. We probably need a psychiatrist as much as a shooting coach.
What's killing me is the thought that bringing in a shooting coach is strange or bad or something. Shooting coaches are common and many teams / players use them. It's a no brainer to me especially to a team with our resources. We're just being stubborn.
well dont know how true bout magic wanting one and luke not wanting one so if true than luke should also get the blame. I mean almost half way through the season and ft are just getting worse. The 3pt shooting is out of anyones control but ft, man come on is called FREE for a reason. Also people keep suggesting luke needs better asst but he's the one who gets to hand pick his asst, I dont knot what type of premise, criteria or qualifications Luke used to hire these folks but if we're still lacking in those departments then Luke should also be blamed for that deficiency as well.
That’s a poor argument for one fultz has nerve damage in his shoulder which severely decreased his range of motion...and secondly there’re plenty cases of players improving their shooting over their career from the ft and beyond... look at deandre ...u either work on it or you don’t
The Lakers only hire people that are part of “the Lakers Family”. That’s how every coach down to the GM has gotten the job. Having a previous relationship with the organization. So we don’t know how much Luke might have wanted someone else, but pushed to use people who already had a relationship with the team. That philosophy is great for establishing loyalty, but hurts us for bringing in talent outside of the organization. That philosophy honestly comes down to Jenie’s vision.
but doesn't Luke get autonomy with his asst? I thought all coaches around the league get to hand pick their assts?
I haven’t seen anything that makes me think the FO handled the assistant hiring any different than any other job within the Lakers
Luke brought in several guys he knew from AZ though. Just seems like everyone is "developmental". No defense guru, shooting coach, psychologist .....
This. It wasn't a problem for him in college. I'm shaking my head at why he sucks so bad now from the line. I didn't anticipate this being a problem at all. It's unacceptable.
Superb game. I don't care about the scoring. The passing was otherworldly. The D was fantastic. Controlled the game all the time he was in.
How many 20years players in league can score 5p and have such a big impact on game? I specialy liked bounce pass after block and full court pass... If i were luke i would forbid him to stay in corners at all. When he gains more confidence in his shot it will open rest of game for him.
Judging by how he finishes much better with his left, and seemingly is left-eye dominant by the way he aligns the ball on his jumpshot, I'm starting to suspect that he's naturally left-handed and maybe he should switch to a left-hand jumpshot in the offseason?
given the lakers' recent player development history, that's quite the condemnation of the assistant coaches.
