We have no identity out there and we are 20 games into the season. That's on you Luke.

well i wouldn't bank on them finding the next pat riley at the moment

its either fire luke and promote shaw or hire some recycled coach like SVG

I said I'd wait until 20 games in to give Luke a critique to be fair. We're 20 games in and now and I'll say it - he's not a good coach.

I thought he was a great hire for our young squad when he got here. But his rotations the past couple years have been maddening to say the least.

He's not the guy to get us a ring, IMO. And with Lebron here that is the goal. I could live with his inexperience when it was just the kids, but now the timetable's been sped up greatly. I don't see Luke lasting past this season.

    Thats the thing.

I don't see many great coaches available. And while I still support Luke and think he is not a bad coach, I can't think of a better option right now available. Changing coach just to make a change is stupid unless you are fully convinced that the new guy is the one you want longterm. Othewise it makes no sense to get rid of a guy just to sign another Mike Brown, D'Antoni or Byron Scott and screw us all over again.

Only name comes to mind is Mark Jackson who hasn't coached in years and is lets say "suspect" to me.

I think everyone should get comfortable with the thought of Jackson as our coach. I think it’s definitely a possibility.

I'd be willing to give Silas or Stackhouse a try.

yeah this isn't a team where a coach would have time to "learn on the job"

luke got 2 seasons for that and clearly didn't learn. if there was some A-list coach available like carlisle or stevens, then yeah by all means fire luke and do what you can to bring those guys in. but that's not the case. like i mentioned, the only possibilities right now are fire luke and make shaw the HC, hire some recycled name like SVG, or hire some fresh new face like stackhouse and hope he learns on the job within a week. none of those sound good to me. if they're going to fire luke to bring in mark jackson solely because he's the only somewhat eniticing name out there then i would much rather they don't

the best case obviously is to wait until season's end to see which coaches are available

I know this would not be popular with folks around here but I think this guy is the best coach in the game... I would hire Larry Brown. The guy knows how to win. He would be great for LeBron’s window and really knows how to develop PGs.

Magic criticism bout not having or seeing a system out there is 1000% correct and we've seen no improvements on that request. Luke is a copy cat coach IMO...we might as well start the search on the down low now then, he's not gona last at this rate

i'd rather they hire mike dunleavy to a 5 year contract than bring in larry brown

he has a proven track record for being an awful coach with young players. not to mention he's almost 80

Luke has a program to formulate his substitutions and rotations. It is a program that has gone through numerous incarnations and millions of dollars has been spent on it. It is called NBA 2K. News is that if that is not working, he may turn to NBA Jam if things get desperate. News is that Luke has a controller in his pocket and fondles the buttons while coaching our games.

I'm just going to place this here for y'all...

I hear Rondo is also cold auditioning for the gig.

That being said, Lakers shouldn't blow their load just yet. Play the long game and give Luke a chance to coach a playoff team before we flip the switch on him (and yes Doom&gloomers, we're making the playoffs).
