Agree with svtzr, which isn't new. Lonzo's who I thought he was: glue guy, starter on a winning team, but not an all star. We went 0 for 3 on #2 picks in that regard. But at least none were busts.
Never liked his shot or fast twitch ability. Again, NBA quality starter, you just want more when you get a pick that high. The concern is if you're forced to overpay or lose them after 4 years, like with randle.
The shooting will take care of itself, but he has to bring the effort every night. That's all I ask for.
{Looks around}...yep, it's Zo's thread in Lakers Discussion. So @tada "just to be clear" how do we want to play this one out? Btw lol @ "given opportunities"...that's exactly what he had here tho (started 49 games last year and put up 18.6/9.1)...but led to a 24-25 overall losing record. Dude got playing time/starting spot vs Ayton/Suns cause Niko was out that night. {Looks around}...yep it's still LakersBall.com. Cause the way most of y'all sound this early into the season I thought I wandered to LakersBawl.com.
In Jules case, he bailed on us. We held onto him past the deadline (maybe Paula related). Then we gave him a qualifying offer. Instead of giving us a chance to match any offer, he requested we rescind his QO and as an UFA, he bounced. We didn't give up on him...he gave up on us. We need to stop crying over this dude, like we did him some type of injustice. As for Zo, we picked him and he and his representation wanted us. When the time comes, I'm pretty sure his representation will force our hand once again. We wouldn't have given up on the kid at that point either.
LOL not sure @vasashi17 you're the mod, move the reactive posts to the Randle thread perhaps? As for @abeer3 's point regarding asset management, I completely agree. We can't be losing 1st rd picks for nothing. We've either got to trade them early or figure out a way to keep them. No if's or but's.
There is no reason to sit him 12 minutes at a time, even if he had Kwame level O. He is our best playmaker when not relegated to spotting up. Today he did 3 - 4 plays in half court. Of the pick. Let the dude play.
That's certainly an important factor. Some of the hate Lonzo gets is because he is the 3rd disappointing #2 pick in consecutive years and gets the most heat. Also considering he is always hurt and prefers to make hip hop videos than work on his game. At least Ingram lives and breathes basketball instead of doing goofy dance videos. Russell was sold us as a superstar and he never came close to living up to the expectations. Ingram was sold to us as an all-star and even though he has been the best performer, he still hasn't been anything more than an average starter. Magic envisioned Lonzo's jersey in the rafters (ahahahahahah). So going 0-3 is very maddening. And its time to get rid of the dead wood if thy can't deliver. Its wasting years of rebuilding because once their rookie contracts are up, the Lakers will let them walk for a handshake because they aren't worth the cash.
He doesn't look like he can move real well on it. I watch him coming up the court often and he's always limping due to that ankle.
