I got a buddy who is a C Bags fan and he's PUMPED about making the playoffs this season. He's been talking a ton of **** about how they're so much better than the Lakers... Oh yeah. The Eastern Conference is just sooooo competitive.
It is a damn shame. I mean I hardly talk sports with people anymore because their understanding of the game (hell any sport for that matter) is so tainted by this "make a star" sports media they don't know what they are talking about. Why isn't NO ONE bringing up the outrageous flopping of Harden and Bron while talking about their MVP chances? Why isn't the Westbrook praise louder I mean if Curry can be diminished for having Klay then why shouldn't Russ be pushed further up for not having KD? I see the Cavs get all the "....in spite of an unhappy K Love" which is used to promote how great Bron is at guiding these Cavs way back to the #2 seed in the East. Its got me shaking my head
As long as they don't get #18 anytime soon...or never at all, then it is all good. Yes, I want to go Sedale Threatt and punch Danny Ainge in the face.
Well, I can't say I blame the sports media for taking the approach they are taking. The star mentality is what sells in this country. It's not just sports. Celebrities in the entertainment biz, even politicians are looked at for their glowing personalities. Not to get into an argument, but Obama had very little experience leading, but damn he was polished. Great speaker, nice smile...the Republicans are now pushing Rubio for some of the same qualities. Racial minority, good speaker, charismatic...We are a celebrity driven culture. Celebrities sell in sports, politics, entertainment and even religion with people like Joel Osteen, Rick Warren and the new Pope. King James has a nice, big smile, tons of endorsement deals. James Harden has that ridiculous, filthy beard. Meanwhile the Spurs and Hawks are just playing team basketball and winning.
Damn, looks like we just saw a changing of the guard. Chris Paul slipping from pg #1 to his rightful place below my pick (and yours?) for MVP. Maybe Chris slipped in the moisture from one of Steph's wet jumpers. Paul looked like he just stood in an eight inch puddle.
For real though, Chris has been far from the #1 PG in the league for awhile. Rose (when healthy), Westbrook, Lillard have all been far above his level for a couple years now.
I don't agree with that statement at all. Rose's last healthy season was in 2011. I actually don't understand why he was mentioned. Lillard meanwhile doesn't even play defense. He went all of January shooting 37.1% from the field (or sub-50 TS%). When he was left off the all star team, he started pouting and sucking. CP3 has never been so inefficient, always has one of the league's best assist/to ratio, consistently plays good defense (except in this case lol), and is the clearcut #1 option on his team. CP3 as the #1 option leads to better records than Damian Lillard as the #2 option. I think Westbrook can make a case, but personally, I would still take CP3. I can see why some people prefer Westbrook though. CP3's great season is somehow flying under the radar. He's been great on both ends of the floor, something not a lot of players do. The Clippers starting lineup also have the best +/- in the entire league.
Deron Williams in Utah > CP3. Since then, Westbrook > CP3. Having said that, if he was a Laker, I'd be singing his praises. LOL
Harden just dropped 51. First question I asked was "how many free throws?" Pleasantly surprised to see that he only made 11 free throws. This doesn't mean he's MVP though. Surely making a strong case though.
I've been saying it for months: can't go wrong with Curry, Beard or Harden as MVP. Just happy LeBron isn't getting it.
I don't recall Rose playing any defense when he was healthy. He never really was healthy long enough to develop more than a one dimensional game.
The pb with CP3 is his style of play ( mostly PNR and "hogging" the ball) doesn't lead to titles for a point guard ... what I like about Curry is he can play off ball and can give the ball up early in the possession ... like Tony Parker ( plus the shooting of course) . CP3 failed many times in the postseason and isn't leading a team to a title but he's without a doubt a better player than Rose, Lillard and Westbrook ( who would be better if he wasn't so stubborn ... He's like Kobe without the fundamentals )
