Looks like his work in the gym paid off. That strong take against a good defender in Klay was nice. His free throws look more effortless, and his defense is as good as ever. If he can attack the rim with more frequency, he will open up so much more of his game. Definite starter when he’s fully healthy.
We look so different with him out there, its great. Start him but see if you he can play a good chunk of minutes with Kuz can their chemistry is still there.
I see y'all are still on the starter tip. Like I said, let him earn it and more importantly, he should work to close games, not start them. [hater]Also looks like Bron's got him on those Miami supplements...[/hater]
In one pre-season game, despite Rondo playing very well, he already showed you he should start. Lonzo > Rondo.
Agreed realdeal, plus I really like the chemistry that feels like it's already begun between Lonzo and Lebron. That's a much more natural combo than Rondo as he wants to control the action. Lonzo can play off ball very well and with Lebron feeding him, look out! We saw that on Zo's first score of the year. And like real said, Zo's just better. I'm thrilled he's back and looking really good in his debut.
This is an excellent point. Having Rondo/LeBron on the court is good because both are looking to get the assist. Having Lonzo/LeBron on the court is great because Lonzo will give the ball up even if he doesn't get an assist. Look no further than the play between he and Kuzma passing the ball back and forth 5 times without dribbling. It was overpassing to an extent, but I'd vastly prefer that to having one of them stop and probe. Having Lonzo and Ingram with LeBron and McGee is a tremendous fit. Almost perfect. What Rondo does will work far, far better with the 2nd unit who needs that kind of leadership.
Lonzo looked great out there considering he hasn't played since March. He got mad swol too, and that will help him finish around the basket. I'm glad to have him back.
lonzo needs to start or else you jeopardize his development rondo coming off the bench is a far better option anyways
I'm ok with easing Lonzo into the starting unit coming back from surgery. But eventually, yes he needs to be there for all the reasons we've all just said: better fit, better D, better off ball, better chemistry, better player.
Yeah.. He looked great out there.. The upper body conditioning will really pay off for him too. I've seen the replay of his airball 3 pointer too many times though.. Media really likes to pick this kid apart. They don't mention that he actually shot 60% from the field, facilitated the offense nicely & had 4 friggin' Steals in 23 minutes..!!!
kobe airballed like 4 three's in the playoffs. granted, he was trying to will the team to win, but no one looks at those shots anymore. my thing with those airballs hindsight for kobe, they turned out to be some of his most career defining shots he took as a young player. if he never took those shots, he would probably never developed the nerve to try it again, and be okay with failing, listening to the criticism and drawing his motivation from the naysayers, and go back and show them he could succeed.
...Ball can play off the ball too. Rondo found him for a lob which unfortunately couldn't finish. I'd like to see Ball and Rondo out there together just to see how they mesh. Ball, Rondo, James, Kuzma and McGee can also kick out the jams. Rondo, Hart, Kuzma, Stephenson and Zubac (?) isn't a shabby second five.
zo looked like s*** for the first few minutes, but got into it eventually, and yes, showed enough to make coaches think about rondo playing against second-teamers. that shot will need to come around, though. he missed that shot by like, 2 full feet. it was weird. had i not had similar experiences early in ballgames as a kid (feel like i always blew breakaways in the first few minutes of games--too amped), i'd be even more confused. but i'm not a pro, and he is. still, the court sense on both ends is almost unmatched in the league. we've got three of the best basketball minds in the game on the same squad. seriously, name the other top thinkers...cp3...jokic? m. gasol, rubio, doncic, b. simmons? draymond? point is, the list of really smart players is short, and i think it matters.
he's got everything down but his shot once he gets that down, he's going to be a star. his defense has been a very pleasant surprise
His 3 point shooting is money so far! His conditioning is what's affecting his layups and bunnies that he's missing. Starting point guard
