Shazam looks fun. Aquaman looks like it could easily be a mess, but I like that they're not trying to be too dark and are just embracing the genre more.
OK. Seriously? https://www.slashfilm.com/henry-cavill-exits-superman/ It's over. End this DCEU and pretend none of it ever happened.
Gal Gadot is the only part of that series that's working. They need to stop production on all their DC properties and re-evaluate what they're doing. Why are they struggling and Marvel succeeding at such a high level? Figure it out. Make some changes. Rebuild this thing.
Write out Man of Steel, BvS and Suicide Squad. Somehow (get creative) and move forward with Wonder Woman, Shazam and Aquaman as "Phase 1". It would suck to lose such good castings in Gadot, Mamoa and Levi. Or just scrap everything and re-explore again in a couple years. Hopefully people won't be fatigued with super hero movies then.
I’m actually getting excited for this movie. The Joker is my favorite villain of all time, and Joaquin looks creepy, he’s got that mix of creepy yet intimidating/imposing you need to play the Joker successfully.
There's 100 things going on and I'm not a fan of the comedic dialogue at all, but the action sets look fun. There's a very good chance it devolves into Attack of the Clones, but it looks better already than I expected. Momoa is a cool guy and he has a good look for Aquaman.
Yeah story was all over the place. Too many plot points they were trying to fit in. But still a fun popcorn flick though. Took my wife to see this. She didn’t care about the story. Too busy drooling over the actor
Not sure how I missed this one Not sure about it now, the tone feels odd to me, poor trailer song choice IMO. It looks interesting, and like it’s taking from the one bad day/Red Hood origin stories in a way, but it feels entirely too disconnected from the Batman world to me. I know they said it would be a stand-alone film in that way, but this second trailer gives me pause about that, what is the Joker without battling Batman really?
So how bout that Shazam? I liked it a lot. Very fun movie and Zachary Levi absolutely nailed that role. I think DC is slowly figuring it out. I think they can excel in making these "standalone" movies with such a rich collection to chose from. Maybe a bigger DCEU can be worked down the line but they shouldn't jump right into it and fail.
