Might be a better chance of him dying then getting traded at this point. Sorry in advance for bumping this thread again.

...just give Deng spot minutes at the 4 when we play New Orleans. Draw a charge, take an elbow to the chin, body shots...get it over with. :)

I agree that the most cap effective way for us to operate is to stretch him next summer if we can't find a trade partner.

Deng wants to play so let him play then... Lakers ALWAYS accommodate their players.

Now only if we can have Deng agree to something similar...it would be easier to find a dump site.

If Deng sincerely wants to play and salvage his career this is the best precedent in doing so...it's on him now.

Glad he’s gonna be gone, but why stretch him now instead of just letting him sit this year. Wouldn’t we be able to stretch him next summer and save money/years?

Wonder how much he finally gave up. And final thanks to Mitch 4 the 4th guaranteed year.

I was hoping they would just ride it out, at least for the feeling of finally being rid of j****** Jimmy's deals. A clean cut so to speak. But maybe getting his energy off the team is reason enough to do a deal. I trust Mag and Peli with whatever they come up with.

Does this mean we have room for a second max contract next summer?

After Aug 31st, Deng's contract was guaranteed for the whole 18'-19' season. So Lakers are only stretching his last year owed for the next 3 years + some sort of buyout discount. If he was stretched before Sept 1st it would have been 5 years of payment (double the years owed plus one).

I'm willing to be patient. Clearly the Lakers have a an. They've still got enough money to sign a max deal next summer with Butler or Kawhi, but not Durant which is fairly telling. This FO doesn't do anything without the confidence only collusion brings and I'm okay with that.

Tough to see dead money, but we're pot comitted to LeBron and the kids now. Exciting times!

Does this give us more leverage for a midseason trade?

Hopefully, Deng gives us some money back. Would be a nice gesture to end his stint here.
