The Lakers salary right now is: LeBron James- 35.4 Luol Deng- 18 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope- 12 Rajon Rondo- 9 Lonzo Ball- 7.5 Brandon Ingram- 5.8 Moritz Wagner- 1.8 Kyle Kuzma- 1.7 Josh Hart- 1.7 Ivica Zubac- 1.5 Cap Holds- 1.7 Total- 96.12 That leaves us roughly 4.88 million to spend. Give it all to Brook Lopez. Give the Room Exception to Lance Stephenson and let's roll.
sorry, we can, but we shouldn't. if we weren't going to be able to use that salary on a second max, i'd rather just eat it as opposed to having it on the books for 5 more years at 7+ per. that's more than what cousins makes! fml
No point in stretching now unless it helps a trade for Kawhi or something. Lakers probably want to wait one more year to get it to be an expiring so they don't have to worry about it after 2 years.
Our team is pretty much set outside of (hopefully) Lopez. No reason to stretch Deng. Next offseason, Deng should be pretty easy to move with more teams having cap space and the deal expiring. Other teams will also lose leverage on us since stretching it wouldn't be the end of the world. It'll cost us a pick most likely, but whatever. That will likely be the 26th pick or something.
I really want to add Lopez back. But that doesn’t finish off the roster completely, we could still add a couple shooters for the vet min. We do that and we go from a 35 win team to a 50+ win team in one offseason.
Not a fan of Lopez for this team as currently constructed. The main thing we need to compete in the West is defense. We will not have the offensive firepower to beat GS. With Lopez, he doesn't play defense, and tbh I'm sure posters here could grab 5 rebounds over him in an NBA game. Stretching the floor is nice, but that's what our draft picks are for. If we ever have to play that small, we can play LeBron at the 5 anyways.
I mean, we're not trying to beat Golden State this season. We're looking for wins and momentum to build on for the season after. There is no center out there we could sign that would be "defensive" enough to make a dent in the Warriors.
Honestly, worth seeing where Dwight Howard's head is at... And I would start McGee over Lopez even if we retained him.
That's a nope and nope for me. If we can keep Lopez he should start. McGee can't really play extended minutes.
Yes, McGee would be serviceable but in spot minutes. Any longer, if I want to watch something funny...Comedy Central has shows.
