OKC are a top defensive team with Roberson and without Melo. PG, Roberson are two all defensive team guys, Adams is very good and Grant or Patterson are both excellent. We shouldn’t kid ourselves otherwise.
I'm telling you okc is not a contender. I don't care what they are good at. They can be the best at whatever but if it doesn't translate into a lot of wins, it's pointless. One of the best defensive teams doesn't flame out as regularly as okc did. It's not like their record with Roberson was amazing. 28-20 on a light schedule. Finished at 48-34. Marginally worse on a much tougher schedule.
To be fair, OKC has a history of not paying so it would be a safe assumption that if they weren't willing to pay for Harden/Durant/Westbrook, that they wouldn't pay for Adams/Westbrook/George. And even the biggest OKC fans weren't expecting him to sign for less than the max at the wrong number of years to capitalize on himself. The guy is dumber than anyone realized.
When the writing was on the wall the past week or so, I started mentally preparing for what I’d post if he chose to stay. Detailed attacks on what such a decision would say about his character. At the end of the day, athletes are just people, and the Oklahoma City thunder found out what mattered to Paul George the most, and they exploited it. Props to OKC. They got over. PG is holding his ankles and smiling, OKC saves millions. Everyone is happy.
