I’m not mad. I’m not bitter. Just genuinely perplexed and disappointed. I really don’t for the life of me understand why a guy would turn down a chance to pay with LeBron James (and maybe even Kawhi Leonard) on the Lakers to go play with Russell “Usage Rate”Westbrook and Carmelo “The Cap Killer”Anthony in a place like OKC. I’m not rooting for OKC to lose in the 1st round from here’s on out. I just genuinely believe that’s what’s gonna happen. I so don’t get this. What a waste.

Wooooohoooo! I said on record many times here that I NEVER wanted this dude, and couldn’t understand what all the fawning over him was about. He never makes teams better. It’s like having an expensive accessory, but you have it just to say you have it. Serves no purpose. Good luck watching Russ jack up 30+ shots per game and never winning a championship.

Agreed completely. He should have taken a 2+1 so he could opt out and get his 10 year veteran, 35% max.

He objectively is a moron, an idiot, and he deserves Oklahoma.

I hope he understands the gravity of this decision too. He's clearly not bright, but hopefully he gets it. He's not going to be welcome in LA. He's not going to wear a Laker uniform literally ever. There's no chance Jeanie, raised by Dr. Buss, would ever accept him back here. There's no chance Magic would ever accept him back here. He's done in LA forever. He's lost millions on endorsements, on business opportunities, and with his merchandising. And he didn't even take the full max he could/should have taken out of loyalty to a franchise that has shown amazing disloyalty to their stars.

The man is an idiot and he deserves his future.

    Completely agree.

I’m not even mad at the front office. No way to anticipate someone making this series of moves that actually lost them money.

    Unreal.

Never seen Windhorst like that LOL. It is a stunning move though. Stunning. Can’t believe he took that deal and we didn’t get a meeting. I guess Westbrook is an incredibly persuasive person if you’ve only had to play next to him for 1 season, as opposed to Durant, who had to put up with his style of play for 8 years, and got the hell out. Not hard to predict Little P will be feeling a similar way after 3 years, and that 4th year option will start to look good.

This is the last time I comment in this thread, at least before we bounce them out of the playoffs. It will happen.

Paul, this was a horrible decision, and I am glad we did not trade our youth for you. If this is your ultimate goal, we never needed you; in any case, I hope you know what this means when it comes to ever playing for the Lakers, and "good luck" when you come to LA with the Thunder. We'll see how the fans treat you.

    62 miles from LA.

Palmdale folks (actual pic, within city limits)

Oklahoma City (same, outskirts but still an actual pic)

Imagine what you can get there with PG's kind of paper though

Really am dumb founded as well... All about the paper, just surprised. For another first round exit? Honestly I only wanted him in thoughts he'd be free, but I swear to god, my conscience said how far is BI and Kuz... How about Hart who could have somen to say.

Y'all remember how much like a** PG shot in the last couple games for playoffs? I can't wait till we destroy them with LeBron. If we were healthy and last year's filled out 2nd half team we could have taken them as well..

Just seriously, a Dwight move. For real.

I'm surprised so many people thought he will come. I was pretty certain that this wasn't happening because he didn't look to have the balls to walk away. In a sense it's OK he made his decision this early because it allows the Lakers to move on without losing pracious time.

F him since he is dumber than I thought. With that said, it seems like we dodged a bullet. I personally always thought he is overrated. He will suck azz with Westbrick in okc for years to come and enjoy the city of Oklahoma city.

The greatest thing for me would be LeBron wh00ping his azz in the playoffs first round as a Laker.

    hahahahahahahahahaha

all i can do is laugh at how much he's screwing himself and his career over by staying in OKC

i knew all this "hometown" stuff was 100% BS. guy just used the lakers as leverage these past few years. he never wanted to play in LA

enjoy watching westbrook play iso ball while playing alongside the corpse of carmelo while you lose in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs

Wow... still processing this. Not afraid to say I am disappointed. Here's what I see happened, and what concerns me moving forward.

    1. I can see how PG wanted to say. The Thunder were doing well until Roberson got injured, and Melo is only on the books for 1 more year. They must have promised him additional flexibility after the fact, and to be fair George had a good year and was a strong DPOY candidate at one point. Also, I can see how he felt ashamed of his last playoff performance.

    2. I'm worried that this means we aren't a sure thing to get LBJ and Leonard. If we were, I think George would be more likely to come. If he really wanted rings, Philly would have been a good bet as well, but if that's what he cares about, maybe he wasn't sold on our ability to assemble a superteam. After all, we have not done well signing FAs these past few years.

    3. I just could have done without the dog and pony show. This documentary, everything. I wish he handled it like KD, just straight up saying that he was going to resign.

Guess the only thing we can do is hope we face OKC in the next round of the playoffs, and kick their a**!

it was so obvious PG was going to pull the "unfinished business" BS. unfinished business with who? the jazz? lols

OKC is paying a ridiculous amount of money for a team that won't make it to round 2

Where does the illusion come that OKC was great before Roberson got hurt?

OKC was never great at any point in the season. They finished with the same record as they did without George and Melo. In other words... George and Melo weren't better than Oladipo (before he became good) and Sabonis.

OKC will be a fringe playoff team tied into monster contracts. But then again George not even taking 5 years or doing 2+1 is just baffling and frankly dumb.

To be honest I was never fully convinced George is worth a max. Heck he didn't even make the all-star team. With Bron coming he will probably not even be an all-star going forward. He was worth 20 Mio. But 30+ Mio....not sure.

Mintz must be a sh*tty agent. His clients look like fools now.

We dodged a bullet with George and I’ve been saying that the whole time. What was always strange to me was everyone arguing against me saying OKC would never spend money to keep the team, or saying PG would never believe they could compete as constructed.

OKC defensively was not bad with Roberson. But I do agree Mintz is a fool. He did the worse possible thing you could do contract wise. It seems he's trying to give OKC some cap flexibility? Except they won't have any because of all the other players as well - not to mention Westbrook's fat (but well deserved) contract.

I was at the first Laker game the Thunder (with George) played at Staples and cheered loud as hell for him, as did everyone else around me. I should go back and boo the s*** out of him just for fun... lol

I'm not saying Roberson is bad. But he is NOT a decisive player in the NBA. He is a good defender that sucks offensively as an inept and unwilling shooter who cannot dribble, pass or get to the rim either.

Thunder had the 3rd toughest back-end schedule in the NBA so of course they were gonna suffer... Regardless if Roberson was there or not.

If OKC wants us to believe they would have been in the conference finals with Roberson... Good luck. We will find out this season.

Melo will surely get stretched. They save 100 mio. in tax immidiately. There is zero chance he will be on the roster coming training camp. Zero.

The Thunder are at the very best and with full health a second round exit. Considering the style of Russ game... They are one awkward Westbrook jump away from lottery.

He is around 30 and his body has suffered quite a bit. Considering he lives an dies by athleticism I'd be concerned longterm.
I dont wish anyone an injury but PGs decision is incredibly dumb.
