How many pg’s average 10/7/7, just under 2 steals and a block? Those are stater numbers. And that doesn’t even account for the stuff that doesn’t show up in the stat sheet like how much smoother and faster we run with him out there, how many deflections and disrupted passes he gets, we are a better team when he was on the floor. You don’t bench a guy because he has injury issues, you start him because he deserves it, and have a vet backup to basically split minutes with him if you want to monitor the actual minutes and workload, and step in when he’s hurt.
Inflated stats on a bad team ain't impressive to me and hardly something to justify unquantifiable tangibles like physical development...sorry. 20-25 mins to prove his body can handle it...revv him up and then when he proves he's the undeniable starting point, give him the spot. We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
This is where I’m at. The timing of this is not favorable for Magic and Rob no matter how you try to spin it. It’s not about the injury, it’s about announcing a pre-existing injury during the most important period in nearly five years of the franchise. It’s becoming of a pattern of BS with him and his daddy. I’m literally counting down the years when his rookie contract is up.
I knew as soon as I listed the stats you were going to say “inflated on a bad team”. I didn’t even need abeer’s crystal ball. They aren’t though, he makes his assists happen, he goes AFTER rebounds, he’s super smart and anticipates passes that leads to his steals, and he’s tall, more athletic than advertised and crafty which gets him blocks. His stats are not inflated, his stats are what they are because he is a true all-around player, a true pg, and that’s his game. I’d actually guess his stats would be BETTER on a team where he’s passing to players that aren’t blowing easy layups and missing wide open threes that he’s getting them. If you want to agree to disagree that’s fine with me though, I don’t see Lonzo as anything but a starter unless an All—Star pg were brought in, in which case he’d probably be traded anyway, not sent to the bench.
first of all: leave my ball out of this. it's the only one i've got. secondly: i don't deny ball's unique impact (the player, not mine), but dude can't stay upright. cut your losses if possible. unfortunately, pops has really screwed up that possibility.
i wanted to trade down or out. water under the bridge. a meniscus isn't the end of the world. i had that a few years back and was fine in a couple months. it's just the pattern. super troubling.
Big Baller Bust. I don't view him as someone that will ever be a star. And with his dad and injury problems...I'm not sure it's all worth it. If we can dump him to the Spurs and net Kawhi...I'm all in...Too bad spurs don't want him though
i'm not going to launch into that debate, but a bunch of non-laker fans would gladly engage you on both counts.
Y'all act like I'm hating on Zo when I'm possibly the most concerned for his long-term success than most of you guys seem to be. When we clearly needed to succeed this season (can't tank our pick and our kids need to look good to lure free agents), Zo missed a chunk of the season. I'm not benching him as punishment for his injuries....I'm benching him and playing the slow game for his proper development and setting up longevity for his career as a potential Laker lifer. Meanwhile y'all just want to throw him to the wolves without any regard to his medical history. #Sustainability
Again, not a new injury guys. Same injury he's been dealing with, so judging this like it's a new development doesn't make sense. Remember when it was announced he got a PRP? That's for this injury. He's back on the court, he's probably very close to healed already. It's actually likely this is/was the injury that he struggled with during the year. I agree he needs to toughen up, but by all accounts... he is. R.E.L.A.X.
It’s all hindsight. I still think it was the right pick, we needed a pg, and we had a Tatum type in Ingram, and drafted another in Kuz. Should we kick ourselves for not drafting Mitchell too? For not trading the #2 for Paul George? We also could have wasted the pick on Fox, Josh Jackson, Malik Monk, etc. We had a fantastic draft with Zo, Kuz, and Hart.
Yep. Tatum was the best player last year. Kuzma had a better year than Ball and will be really good. Ball showed promise and flashes. Pretty much his I saw it...
James comes in... Paul follows? Howzat?! Ball to the bench or out of here. Injuries dating back to his short college days.
Kuzma and Tatum stats are VERY close. Ball averages more assists as he should being a PG. can anyone explain to me why Ball averages more rebounds than the taller forward? Defense? No comparison. Ball is pretty damn good. Tatum is pretty damn bad. Other than shooting, Tatum has nothing on Ball
Tatum should have been worked out. We worked everybody else out except the best rookie last year who looks like a stud. That is an indictment on the FO who have I have otherwise supported and think have done a terrific job.
