    Ramona on Kawhi (ESPN710):

    - No engagement from SA to LA.
    - Wouldn't be shocked if Kawhi is moved in the next 24 hours.
    - Other teams who called about Kawhi have been told "make your best offer, but we don't plan on moving him right now".
    - Lakers were told no and she says other teams don't really want to be labeled as handing the Lakers another dynasty (used Memphis as an example).
    - Said the market is fairly limited right now.
    - Agreed with Trudell who said there's not a ton of urgency at the moment. Spurs will get their best offer, may or may not be the Lakers. Lakers will continue with their plans.
    - Lakers could easily just wait for July 1st and get their two maxes, but they're going to do their diligence on Kawhi as well.

    Off topic kind of:
    - Clippers looking to make a splash.
    - Could move up into the top of the draft.

It's hilarious how this is the second team in two years doesn't want to deal because they don't want LA to get the best player and create a dynasty. It's actually putting me further on my high horse watching the fear in other teams.

But, but, but the Pau deal and Memp.......

WHERE IN THE FLYING HELL WERE YOU WHINY LITTLE TURDS WHEN CP3 AND HOUSTON CLEARLY COLLUDED AND HE GOT TRADED THERE FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING?

Did you miss that on your conference call with the other little b**** teams in the league when you were discussing that the Lakers being terrible still strikes fear into you guys?

I’m not either. If the Spurs want to hurt themselves to spite us that’s on them. It’s a bad look for them, and it’s a bad look to future free agents that this is how they’ll treat you there. Meanwhile we have traded Lou Williams to a contending team, let go of Bogut so he could sign elsewhere, gave Kobe that huge money legacy contract, that’s a good look. Saw these tweets referenced on LG, agreed with their point

Like I said before, not a LeBron fan, but I really hope he and PG sign here just so the league s*** their pants and have to accept that we are back again.

I see this as LA releasing this info to alert Kawhi's handlers that the Spurs ain't willing to play ball and yall may have to push harder on that trade demand.

Woj reported that we reached out earlier in the week and were rejected. We don’t know when that was. Could have very well been before Kawhi talked to Pop face to face.

But even if not, that’s the stance I would expect at this point from both sides. Spurs probably know LA is going to be the inevitable trade partner, and they probably have a sense of what the offer will be. They have to play hard ball at this point, and so do we.

But my feeling is that it’s the kind of hard ball where both sides know the other is fronting. Like I could see things quickly changing from “door shut in our face” to “door opened and deal quickly agreed to”

    Door slammed in face.

As much as I love the kids and see where they are headed, I want a grand slam from this summer. Every team has kicked us around the past 5 years and when we are nearing the turning point, they are clogging the lanes.

Everyone is scared of what we might do, lets actually give them something to be fearful about.

I absolutely love the hesitance on trading with us. It shows that we are in fact the most prestigious, but also most feared franchise in the NBA and it’s not even close. Lakers 4 Life.

That's where my mind is at LT.. Praying atleast lol.

Randle s&t,Hart,Zu,Bryant and future picks for Kawhi.

If not I hope Lebron and PG have the balls to come over here with the personnel we have and will add during the draft and see EXACTLY where we stand as Kawhi does whatever for a year. I hope if he's not traded to us he let's other teams no I'm not signing s*** and he suits up for one game on the Spurs then refuses to suit for another game. Force their hand then for real for real.

Why would the Spurs be so petty? Was 5 championships not enough? Why would they still hold a grudge against us? Who even cares any more? I used to hate the Spurs and now I couldn't care less. Jim and Mitch are gone. Kobe, Shaq and Duncan are retired. Move on.

The thing that fudging irritates me is the whole baby take of not helping the Lakers form a super team when in a fudging year he could come over and the super team occurs anyway.

Like okay Spurs trade him to the east when he'll just come right back to the west in a year. Unreal. I'm praying it's just all part of negotiating tactic.

Well, Pop was there when we destroyed them in ‘01, and beat them in ‘02, ‘04, and ‘08 (unexpectedly out of nowhere that season, maybe a year ahead of schedule). He’s seen the power of a Lakers team with multiple stars on it repeatedly, so I could see why he would never, ever want to help us get back there again.

About San Antonio not wanting to help create another super team in LA. I think I had argued that this is a moot point because if the Spurs trade Leonard, they’d be going into rebuilding mode so why does it matter whose at the top for the next few years? By the time the Spurs have rebuilt and out back on the upswing, our window might be closing anyways.

But to be fair, that’s not true. If we maintain a few of our young pieces with the big 3, you’re not just looking at a short term window. You’re lookening at the reawakening of a sleeping giant and probably at least a decade of the Lakers being an elite team again.

Let’s say Lebron retires in 4 years. George and Kawhi would still be in their prime. Some of our young pieces may have likely developed into stars. The Lakers would be relevant again and easy to draw in replacements for Lebron.

Not so sure. The Spurs did make the playoffs this year without Kawhi. If you were to add Gordon Hayward to last season's Spurs team along with maybe Terry Rozier, are they rebuilding or reloading?

Our youth beat their a$$e$ 3-0 this season with Ball, Randall, Kuz & Ingram all having big games against them. So if you don't want any of our youth, fine. They will only get better and torture you for the next decade along with whatever stars we add to them. It's probably Pops last year, he'll bail on that contract with no Kawhi. Spurs will need to rebuild through the draft. See ya in 5-6 years.
