You can argue that the IT trade in both cases (Boston to Cavs and Cavs to LA) was for more than him as the centerpiece (8th pick in Cavs case and 2max cap space in LAs case).

If IT was "the" piece we were trading for, his medicals and physical would be more heavily scrutinized.

Just like Embiid had an elaborate insurance policy placed within his extension, LA would do no different with Kawhi. Since we have capspace, we have the ability to trade for him and then renegotiate his contract to give him max dollar for next season.

I would be lying if I didn't tell you I was concerned with his injury, cause as you said tendinopathy can refer to many ailments ranging in degree of severity. But I think LA will cover their a**** accordingly.

Chronic meaning it wont likely return for no reason, but he could be susceptible to reinjury depending on the severity which I'm not sure Dr. Clap knows about or not.

It's just something to keep in mind when giving up these kids for Kawhi, that's all.

Wonder where Klapper is getting this combination of important information from? Wow.

Doc Klap is just deducing based off the info and likelihood of the patient: in this case a bball player.

Two types of quad ossification: one type is a rare hereditary defect and the other type is caused by trauma. The most likely is that Kawhi falls in the latter type.

The genetic type is chronic due to a gene being activated and continuously firing causing the calcification. The non-genetic type is due to an acute trauma and therefore non chronic in nature.

And the "will fly in purple and gold"?

Just going along with what he's hearing and reading in the media?

Kawhi's is definitely trauma induced, but not being chronic doesnt mean it's 100%. It can still be susceptible to reinjury based on trauma.

It's like for me, my thumbs dislocate easily from various football injuries. It's not chronic, but it is caused by even light trauma now.

Absolutely...repeated trauma will cause further calcification and the area of injury becomes more rigid and painful.

I'm just referring to Doc Klap's reference to Kawhi's condition being of the non-chronic variety and to diffuse any suggestion that he already has a hold of Kawhi's med files for whatever reason.

Spurs: you want Kawhi, then take back Pau.

LA: fine, then take back Deng.

Me neither. I honestly think there's something seriously "wrong" with Kawhi.

So we lose most of our young core but get to keep Kuzma, Hart, #25 while building a super team? We’d definitely attract some veteran ring chasers, including I think Brook would re-sign for cheap. That’s a tough call, but I might have to do it.

    Hart
    George
    Leonard
    James / Kuzma
    Lopez / Gasol

I know Hart isn’t a PG but he can guard them, and Lebron is the defacto PG anyways. We would need to add a few legitimate PG’s via draft or free agency, as well as a more athletic big man who can play 5 in a “death lineup”. I think it would be feasible to fill out that roster in such a way to make us a legit challenger to Golden State.

I still think he can be really, really good but taking the most part of a year off isnt exactly a good look.

If healthy Kawhi is my top pick of any player in the league. I like two way players. But very nervous about him.
